How much does it cost to fix the speedometer on a 1995 subaru impreza

Hi.

First you have to ascertain whether the problem is in the cable or the cluster. They are both separate costs.

The cable is definitely cheaper than the cluster.

Speedometer

If the check engine light is not on, I would say the problem is inside the speedometer head.

After jump starting our 2004 Subaru Forester, the tach, speedometer and odometer no longer function. They appear to be on the same circuit in the fuse panel behind the coin tray, but the fuse doesn't...

On another forum someone said to disconnect the cables from the battery; press on the brakes several times to release any electrical charge still in the system; wait a few minutes and reconnect the battery cables. It worked like a charm--speedometer, tachometer, and display all function now!

1995 Subaru Legacy. Speedometer stopped working

It's probably your speedo head, the gauge itself. I put several used ones in our car to no avail. When I finally went to the dealer they needed to know my cars serial numbers then sold me a gauge that matched my car. Sounds goofy but it worked! I didled with this problem for over a year on and off before that.

It is probably a worn speedometer cable. Needs to be replaced.

Speedometer does not work 1998 Subaru forester

Sounds that the magnetic pickup on the vehicle speed sensor has stopped working. Dirt or grease usually. That will cause an erratic reading. Also check wiring to sensor. Poor connection is rare but possible. Good luck and have a good day.

1999 Subaru Legacy Sedan.. speedometer works intermittently dealer replaced sensor, to no avail..

I finally fixed mine, on my 1999 Subaru legacy 30th anniv edition. . .

I removed the speedometer head, and resoldered the green connector on the board. Then I also ran a wire to duplicate the trace wire from the middle pin to the first connect (about 4mm). Problem gone.
