Coach battery not charging using shore power.

I have owned this motorhome for 4 years. it had been in the family since purchase. it has less than 200 hrs on the generator. in october i took it in for repair and service (generator). i would almost bet my life that it was charging the coach battery when plugged in. i never thought twice about it when i began having battery problems when i would do my monthly propane purchase. oooh yeah, i live in my motorhome. i thought that i had a bad battery. it was purchased in nov 2008. since the batterys only seem to last 1 year or so i ahve been buying reconditioned batterys from interstate battery for 1/3 of the price of a brand new one. i use the deep cycle rv/marine battery that has been used all along. i thought that i had a defective battry and had a year warranty so i was in no hurry to exchange it since no trip was planned soon. i exchanged the battery in january, we never checked to see if it did have a dead cell. the replacement battery was down to 4 volts when i unplugged from 125V. --------------------I EXERCISE THE GENERATOR EVERY TIME I GET PROPANE, AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH---------------- this is how i know that the battry is low.

since the generator was ''fixed'' and the battery was replaced and the replacement recharged when it went low was also tested. no dead cells.

the repair shop looked at teh generator because i thought that it had something to do with my charging problem. well they tell me it is an inverter problem. my one of many questions is why if i have over 12 volts to all my 12 volt fuses in and out, why is it still not charging the battery?

i have been told that the generator does not charge the coach battery.................... when i was dry docking around time when times were tight i would check my battery voltage every other day and if low i would run the generator and my coach battery would get charged if low by the generator running. the repair shop insists that it does not charge when the generator is running. was there an existing problem that wouild have let it charge---put at least 12 volts to coach battery while the generator is running...... I HAVE QUICK DISCONNECTS ON THE BATTERYS. that is how i discovered i had a bad cell in a previous battery. testing with it connected then disconnected to make sure that it was ''charging'' while the generator was running.

as i understand it there are 3 ways to charge the battery if the options were installed. i again would bet my life that i have used alll 3 since purchase.......... am i losing my mind, lol, or could the repair shop have screwed something up when it was being repaired/any possible replacement parts put in that were not the same as original equipment?

that is the ''short version''. any email or even a telephone call would be most appreciated........ i told the repair shop that i needed the motorhome back........ they had it a week and they either did not have the time to look at it or were they doing something else possibley shady? i am supposed to take it back tomorrow 3/12/2009.. until i hear from ANYONE who can make heads or tails of my ramblings i am not taking it back. it has cost me too much to be without my motorhome and it not be fixed properly.

if you made it this far, WOW!!!! i dont even know if i could have made it.......... my cell # is 951 317 3532 if an immdeiate response can be made..... any time of the day or night is ok..

SOURCE: No power to coach when generator runs but power

Do you have automatic switch over in your system, or is there a receptacle where power cord stores, that you need to plug power cord into, for power from generator?

Mi Ew36 is about 6months old, but now the charge lasts only half the distance compared to when it was new. What could be the problem?

First, I'm not a EW Tech.
* Check your warranty and call for service.

*** The following is for information only.***
* Most power loss and low power stem from blown fuse(s), broken or burnt wires and/or connectors. Locate and replace bad wire.
* Problems with charge or gradual power loss is usually the battery system. Since this is most likely a Lead Acid battery (flooded or Gel) then those need to be checked (load tested) and replaced. Do not expect these batteries to last forever. Most will last about +200 charge cycles. Less if the battery is stressed (deep discharged,High temperatures, Over charged).
* Lead Acid batteries concider a charge cycle to be when ever charging. Even if the charger is removed prior to a full charge and discharged, this is still a charge cycle. Short charging is not recommnded. Top off charge is a cycle charge.
* Follow your MFR charging instructions.

* you may want to upgrade to Lithium Ion Battery Pack (with BMS) which will have a higher cycle rate (+1000)

2002 fleetwood blunder 39z coach has been stored for 4yr problems starting no power to solenoid help

If the vehicle has not been run in 4 years, the battery is dead. Most newer cars with computers, power door locks, security systems and all kinds of electrically operated functions use battery power when they a just sitting. If the battery was exposed to below freezing temperatures when it was not charged, it may need to be replaced.

Our motorhome battery that runs the house section drains within 2 hrs of use. it seems to drain the main battery which runs the motor as well. what can we do so this will last longer? we would liekt o run...

Your motorhome should have a converter in it. It takes 120 volts from the shore power hookup and converts it to 12 volts to run your heater and coach lights as well as recharging the house battery. You should make sure it is working properly. You should also have the house battery tested to make sure it's good. The engine battery should not connected to the house battery when the key is off. If it is there is a wiring or relay problem.

Battery drained dead in ocld weather

Could be both batteries went bad.
1) I would take battery back to where you bought it and have them test.
2) Check, or have someone check, that battery power is not being used when the key is off and the car is not being used in any way. There will be a slight trickle of power use, but nothing that would wear the battery down in less than 3-4 weeks.

460 motorhome fan belt slipping

Check and see if the pulleys are shiny looking, also are the batteries low on charge, if you have more than one battery the load on the alt is huge, add in a low or bad set of batteries and then the belt can deliver enough power to spin the alternator, and it slips. Worked on motorhomes for year's, saw this allot.
