1999 jeep cherokee sport odometer not working!

I checked the speed sensor and everything! a mechanic said the wiring is screwed up so all i need to know is the wire(s) that go to the instrument cluster for the odometer or the speed sensor and ill go from there...thank you

idk the mechanic i asked said the wires might be loose going into the gauges or into the speed sensor but he wont touch it. i checked the wires and i didnt see anything loose or any wires burned so i just wanted to narrow it down to what wires they were.

The speed sensor gives a reference to the cpu and from there an output to the speedo head. How can the wiring be screwed up?

You mean it cranks but does not start, right ?
The NoBus on the display means the cluster is not talking to the computer. That could be a wiring problem or a component problem.
Have you checked the engine computer for trouble codes ?

Tracing an electrical issue with my 1999 Jeep Cherokee sport. when ignition is turned on after a few seconds my odometer says, " no bus" what does this mean ?

The instrument cluster or ignition switch module,
lost communication with the electrical bus or wiring
system & can not be seen by other modules!

Need wiring diagrams & factory trouble charts to diagnose
the fault

My speedomoter and odometer is not working in my 1995 jeep grand cherokee and i checked all the wires and the vechile speed sensor

Replace the speed sensor, and be sure to index the sensor after it is installed.

you might have a bad vehichle speed sensor it is mounted near the rear of the transmission

A few weeks ago i installed a air intake and flowmaster muffler on my 99 jeep cherokee. after i took the stock muffler off i realized i needed some wire for my welder so i drove the jeep without a muffler...

My first question would be, "did you disconnect the battery before welding the exhaust?" This could fry the ECU. What codes are you retrieving now?

your speed sensor is on the side of the trany just go to you local parts house and look at the sensor you'll find it . it's realy that simple . hope this has been helpful to you !

P0500 code no odometer/speedodometer replaced vss

pull out the instrument cluster
.check the soldering on the plugs.they are known for problems.the computer will generate a code if no feedback from the cluster.
tie them down with ties so it does not happen again.
it is from all the vibration
