1 Open the RAV4's hood. Locate the
back of the headlight assembly, just behind the headlight. You should
see a ring-shaped plastic cover.
2
Turn the locking plastic ring clockwise about 1/2 inch and it should pop off.
3
Remove the rubber grommet covering back of the headlight. Simply pull it out of the headlight assembly.
4
Depress the spring latch holding
the bulb in place behind the headlight. This is a wire latch that looks
somewhat like a bent paper clip. Press it down and move it to the side,
away from the light bulb. It should come free and flip open, freeing
the bulb.
5
Disconnect the light bulb from
the plug. Replace it with the new light bulb, and replace the latch and
rubber grommet. Replace the plastic ring cover and turn your headlights
on to ensure proper installation.

It might be hard to get to like that. You will see a silver metal bar with a 90 degree angle at the top that goes straight down behing the headlight assembly, which you can pull up on. It holds the headlight in. Once you pull this up pust the headlight slightly sideways as there is a plug holding the headlight in at the back, then just pull forward to give youself space to work. Clip off the two clips and slide the back cover off then you can change the bulb out.
Remove the grill first.. it is on snap locks and will pop out .There are 2 slide up brackets on the left and right top of the plastic headlight cover. slide the 2 brackets up the headlight unit will be unattached except for the light wires holding it in place, just unclip them. pop off the rubber cover for the light you wish to change. Twist bulb 1/2 turn to remove. Use gloves so your hands don't touch to bulb.
