Headlamp bulb access cover is a good description. I'd start there.

How to remove front headlight assembly

Hi,

1 Open the RAV4's hood. Locate the back of the headlight assembly, just behind the headlight. You should see a ring-shaped plastic cover.

  • 2 Turn the locking plastic ring clockwise about 1/2 inch and it should pop off.
  • 3 Remove the rubber grommet covering back of the headlight. Simply pull it out of the headlight assembly.
  • 4 Depress the spring latch holding the bulb in place behind the headlight. This is a wire latch that looks somewhat like a bent paper clip. Press it down and move it to the side, away from the light bulb. It should come free and flip open, freeing the bulb.
  • 5 Disconnect the light bulb from the plug. Replace it with the new light bulb, and replace the latch and rubber grommet. Replace the plastic ring cover and turn your headlights on to ensure proper installation.

  • Thanks

    Rubber bulb headlight cover

    Hi,

The rubber cover protector for the base of the headlight halogen lamp can be ordered to your nearest Toyota dealer.

The rubber cover protects the headlight's interior from water, moisture, and dirt. The headlight could function without it, but the your headlight will become darker when the dirt will be burn inside.

    Hope that helps you out!

How to take out and replace headlight bulbson 2002 passat

    here are instructions from autozone.com
    1. Open the hood and if equipped with a rubber access cover, remove the cover over the back of the headlight assembly, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb.
    2. If a rubber seal/cover is mounted around the bulb, disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb, and then remove the rubber seal/cover.
    3. Once the electrical connector has been disconnected, squeeze the ends of the retaining bracket inward, then pivot the retainer away from the rear of the headlight assembly.
    4. Grasp the bulb securely and remove, noting the location of the alignment tabs for installation. Allow the bulb to cool before removing it from the headlight assembly.
NOTE Do NOT touch the glass portion of the new bulb. This will shorten the life of the bulb.

Need to change the left side low beam headlight.

It might be hard to get to like that. You will see a silver metal bar with a 90 degree angle at the top that goes straight down behing the headlight assembly, which you can pull up on. It holds the headlight in. Once you pull this up pust the headlight slightly sideways as there is a plug holding the headlight in at the back, then just pull forward to give youself space to work. Clip off the two clips and slide the back cover off then you can change the bulb out.
