Have the fault codes read as that will indicate the problem area

first, though you mentioned no oil leaking, is there oil in the engine?
Next, if engine runs well and is not ticking or tapping, have the codes checked...most larger parts stores do this free. Once you have the stored codes you can look up what system is malfunctioning.
If engine is making any noise at all or there is no oil in it, DO NOT START OR DRIVE IT...make sure whoever did the oil change knows about this now...If someone forgot to put oil in, they may be buying you a new engine!
At this point it may be something simple but can also be very serious.(hope not)
good luck

SOURCE: I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty. replaced the battery

THEFT system is armed; check the disarm procedure in your Owners Manual.

If this isnt solve it, could be that you need to re-synch your antitheft security module.

Hope this helps. Your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Jeep Liberty 2004 sport gas cap not sealing

You can get the silicone grease at automotive and hardware stores. Apply to rubber seal on cap about every 2 to 3 months. This will ensure a seal so that the engine light doesn't come on. Worked great on My 2008 Liberty.

It sounds like a sensor is intermittantly loosing the data stream. Since the engine light came on, I would go to a reputable shop and have them check for codes. Many auto parts stores will do this as well and sometimes for free. Can't beet free. If I were to guess I would say something like the camshaft postion sensor is going bad, Or the crankshaft postion sensor, Or something like that. The code will tell which one it is.

Good luck, and if you have any further questions please....ask!

Gas cap loose warning keeps coming on and after a while the check engine light comes on. had it to the dealer 3 times still happens.

simple really--- i have 2 jeeps and my daughter has one also--2 libertys and 1 cherokee--this has happened a couple times--what i did was remove the gas cap--carefully remove the rubber sealing ring and clean the rubber ring and the cap seat where the ring sits.( a clean rag will do this ) before putting the gas cap back on--i disconnected the battery cables--neg 1st and then positive--waited ten mins or so and put gas cap on 3 clicks --then reconnected battery cables in the reverse order-pos 1st and then negative-tighten connectors--then turn key on till bell stops then off--(do this 3 times) then start jeep--should be good ta go--reset your radio settings--as what you've just done is reset your computer--worked perfectly for me everytime--also has worked on a few friends cars that I've reset except for one and she needed the Evap sys module which went bad---happy motoring !

Check engine light keeps coming on replaced gas cap already

Your problem is in the evaporative emission system which is designed to prevent the escape of fuel vapors from the fuel system. Leaks in the system, even small ones, can allow fuel vapors to escape into the atmosphere. The light coming on can be caused by one of the following:

1. Defective or loose fuel cap
2. EVAP canister or hose cracked- not connected
3. Purge or vent solenoid defective
4. Vacuum leak at engine Government regulations require on-board testing to make sure that the evaporative (EVAP) system is functioning properly. The leak detection system tests for EVAP system leaks and blockage. It also performs self-diagnostics. You have tried the easy fix, the gas cap. Finding the leak now will require special equipment and testing procedures, might be better left to a professional.

Please let me know if this information is helpful. Positive feedback is appreciated. Thank You!

Holden Rodeo 2001, check engine light keeps coming on!?

I'm having same problem on my 2000 model rodeo 4wd 3.2L V6. Other day check engine light came on. I checked engine bay nothing abnormal, or power loss. Next day light was gone. 2 days later driving, a sudden loss of power and light came up. After idling for a couple of minutes, drove off with light still on but all power back. 1 hour later of faultless driving loss of power for a minute or so. Engine temp normal. Had break for 1/2 hour and set off for last hour of journey without fault except check engine light still on. Following dayon startup light went out???
