2004 Audi A4 Cabrio - the PRNDS flashes intermittently - sometimes staying on - then stops. Thank you, Scott.

IIf the vehicle is front wheel drive and now Quattro than then the transmission range sensor is located inside the transmission and is part of the mechatronics unit (valve body). If the vehicle isn't Quattro then the transmission range sensor is bolted to the drivers side of the transmission where the cable connectors to the shift lever. When these range sensors go bad that will cause the flashing or solid PRND light on the cluster.

My car shifts into gear then revs really high with no acceleration i have a 2001 audi a6 quattro... what does this mean? It reversed fine.

Likely the transmission has bands or clutch packs failing. Reverse is often unaffected. Have vehicle scanned and read the codes. You will likely have drive train codes in the P1700 and up range.

I want to buy an audi a4 2.0 front wheel drive not the quattro version, all the car experts told me that the car has a problem with its transmission and specifically the transmission control unit and it...

by far the biggest expense is the front suspension,as ALL bushes WILL need replacing at 80k.cost £2400(yes pounds sterling)then the transmission,if car is hammered.£2100.BUT this is common TO ALL VW PRODUCT NOT JUST AUDI.but same could be said of MOST cars,as they all have major faults waiting to happen.(why would they build a car to last ?????
