My battery went flat the other week! now the airbag light wont go out!! annoying!!! please help!!

If it is random, it may be a bad clock spring.

Why wont my airbag light go off? Go to see an auto-electrician if the airbag light still won't turn off. A worn-out clock spring inside your airbag's control module, a dead backup airbag battery, or a corroded terminal inside the airbag system are commonly the reasons why the airbag light is illuminating. In rare cases, your airbag may need to be serviced.

I ordered the clockspring on ebay it was $30 buy it now, brand new. This was after the airbag light being on solid for about a week. Then one day it began to come and go intermittently. Then it went off and stayed off about a week.. The clockspring I ordered arrived and I set it aside to see whether the light would come back on. Well, today it did and it was on solid for a 100 miles of driving. I got home and disconnected the battery for about 5 minutes and reconnected. Light stayed on. So I pulled the steering wheel and changed the clockspring and the light has gone off and stayed off so far. I will post back in a few weeks if it stays OFF so others may find this helpful for future reference.

Alternator could be going out and can cause this problem...

This light came on in my car when the alternator went bad. If the airbag system is not getting enough voltage it will show a warning indicator light. Check your battery and alternator to make sure they are putting out enough juice.

key code lock out usually happens when you have entered the wrong code too many times leaving the battery connected should allow the timer to run down for 30 mins so you can try again, it is cumulative though so the more you get it wrong the longer you have to wait. make sure battery is fully charged first.

If your horn is not working and your airbag light is on, then your cruise control definitely is not working too. This is cause by a faulty "clockring" underneath the airbag on the steering wheel. There is a recall for this clockring, make sure you mention this to dealer otherwise you will be charged $250+. I own a 1996 Dodge Caravan SE, 3.0L and luckily I received a recall notice few weeks after I went to the dealer for a diagnostics of the problem. I wasn't ready to pay for this amount and I'm glad I got it fixed for free. Enjoy.

Just take the car for a scan. This will reveal what actually went wrong with the airbag.

You will have to be very careful!!! There have been cases where the airbag lights come on because of an internal computer problem. If you go to your dealer, or maybe a local shop, they will have to hook it up to a computer to determine the problem. Not to get too excited, but some people have had the bag actually deploy, so I usually make that known to anyone I help with an airbag light. Hope all goes well, and please be safe.

try making sure all belts are tight jode

hi for a battery to go flat means your altenator isn't doing its job in charging it. all cars are different but it has to charge at a certain rate in order to keep it going. if the charge rate is very low then yes the battery wont last. if alternator is ok then possibly a wirring fault somewhere.
