Well slap me silly!!!! somehow didn't even think of that!!! glad its fixed!!!!

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

New is good, but if theyre wet that points one way , dry, another problem entirely!

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Wasn't too concerned with that...what do the plugs look like?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Fuel pressure is a bit high but could just be a slight innacuracy in your gauge. What does it read with regulator vaccuum hose disconnected? Is regulator on the fuel rail or on the pump? (should be about 39-41) Are plugs wet or dry when you remove them after cranking? Are you checking spark at plugs or at coil?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

starts and dies or what. does it happen all the time or just sometimes.

Cycle key from off to on 3 times with out starting vehicle then on the 3rd time leave key on and count the number of check engine light flashes. A common cause of your problem is usually caused by a bad CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. Good luck

Ken to reset your computer/ECM JUST unhook your Negative Battery Cable for a minute and hook it back up. I recommend doing that before you get into a lot of troubleshooting or any time you replace anything electrical like sensors and such. Hope this helps you.

Have you checked the fuel pump relay? A relay is like one in your home and if they get to warm for any reason they shut down the power that should be going through it. Just a thought that I didn't see mentioned.

You probably disconnected the battery to install the new fuel pump. The alarm system will act in this manner after reconnecting the battery. Put the key in the door and lock the door. Then unlock the door. Try starting the vehicle now.

Ok i had the same problem with my 93 jeep. i replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filter, fuel regulator, and the brain( computer). spent alot of money and it has still starting and dying. Turned out to be a short in the dash from the fuse box. came across the short by accident, got mad and hit the dash above the glove box one day and it started right up. Hitting the dash worked everytime, and i drove it like that for a good two months before i could track down the short and fix it. I don't know try it out and let me know.

1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0. Got fuel, got spark but won't start!

Question edited for clarity. Cranking IS turning over. You are cranking but not firing, or starting, or running.

If you haven't much pressure at the rail, your likely problem is not enough fuel pressure and the fuel pump needs replacing. One post here says you need 39 PSI and another says 49 PSI. What do you have? You need to test with a pressure gauge.

1995 Jeep grand cherokee dies when given gas

You'll need to check the fuel pressure w/ a gauge you can get at most auto parts stores. Not sure what it should be for your SUV but probably in the 40 psi to 60 psi. It should also hold that pressure when shut off. If you do replace the fuel pump, strongly recommend that you use an OEM part as aftermarket ones while cheaper tend to have a short life.

1993 jeep cherokee won't start

MAKE SURE DISTRIBUTOR CAP ,ROTOR, SPARKPLUGS AND WIRES, OKAY IF ALL HAS BEEN REPLACED.IF NOT GETTING SPARK PROBLEM COULD BE IGNITION COIL FAULTY, ASD RELAY FAULTY,DISTRIBUTOR WITH CAMSHAFT SENSOR FAULTY OR YOU HAVE FAULTY PCM. CODE SCAN VECHICLE FOR FAULT CODE, IF YOU ARE GETTING SPARK PROBLEM IN THE FUEL SYSTEM, CHECK FUEL PUMP RELAY AND FUSE MAKE SURE FUEL FILTER BEEN CHANGED AND FUEL PRESSURE IS 39 - 41 PSI. CHECK FOR FUEL SPARK SEE WHAT GOING ON, VECHICLE NEEDS FUEL OR SPARK TO RUN IF ONE NOT WORKING ENGINE WILL NOT START.

The fuel pressure should be 45psi as per the manual. But in case if its showing between 35 to 40 psi its ok.But any thing lower then 30 psi is a problem. It can be clogged fuel filter or faulty fuel pump.it has to be checked. --------- Thanks.Helpmech.

I replaed the fuel pump on my 1995 jeep now. it will not run it just starts and dies

Check fuel pump again or replace old one if it run with it to see if it's the new that's not working probably if so buy another fuel pump from junkyard not new or eBay. Check/change fuel filter. Check spark plugs/ air intake Also clean the trotle with that carburetor choke cleaner sensor next to it. Injectors also.

My 94 jeep grand cherokee limited acted as though it was running out of gas then it died however it had plenty. now it starts some of the time and only stay running for a short while.

Sounds like a classic bad fuel pump...When the pump begins to fail, it overheats and binds. After a short wait, it cools off and runs again. However, a bad filter can often do the same thing. Replace the filter (good maintenence) and if the problem continues, change the pump.

Car has really rough idle, when i give it gas it sputters, n has no power it pops, & also sounds like it has a miss

First check wiring and spark plugs, check distributor cap and finger. If necessary replace items. Do you changed your Fuel filter anytime? If not, change it. The fuel filter is located over the rear axle, driver side, one line in, one line out, 2 screws hold him in place to body. Be careful with the connector clamps! After that check TPS for proper function. Check your vacuum system for leaking. Check fuel pressure (48 to 52 PSI), you'll find a connector (like a tire vales, a bit more diameter)at the fuel line on top of the engine. Connect a pressure gauge to check. If you have a lower pressure than 40PSI, replace your fuel pump

Was running-stalled-turns over but will not fire.gas guage wont move and gas light stays on

check and make sure you have plenty of fuel in the tank. gas light should not be on as long you have plenty of fuel in the tank unless you have faulty fuel level sensor. check if you getting sparks and fuel, pull wire and one plug out, ground it to the vech have a friend turn over the engine and see if you getting strong sparks. no sparks check coil having 12V, good coil, cam sensor faulty. check if you getting fuel, pulling hose from the fuel filter line, point it down ward wrapping the end with clothes covering the hose and turn the engine over, see if you getting proper fuel and good pressure coming out of the line using your thumb slightly cover the fuel line. no pressure or fuel, check the fuel pump, good pump, faulty crank sensor. both crank and cam sensor work the same way, one telling computer to send sparks to the plugs and other turn on the fuel pump.

Jeep grand cherokee 95 fuel pump takes long time to start ,

First install a fuel pressure tester on the fuel rail and check the pressure during crank. It should be about 30 psi.If the pressure is not good then it could be a bad fuel pump relay or fuel pump itself (in the tank).
If the fuel pump pressure is good then you could have a bad crank sensor.
