If solid mounts where installed then it is engine vibration.
the vibration is from the engine !

I would suggest that you try servicing the transmission and having the fluids and filters replaced. Dodge is really good about having transmission issues related to partially plugged filters or stuck valve bodies.

SOURCE: dodge neon sxt 2003 engine vibration while increasing rpm

Well i have s similar sound but im not sure if its the same. For me i just found out that its a bracket i never put back on. The motor mounts if you get them at an autozone which gives you a life time warrenty runs about 30 bucks and theres only 3 upper passenger and lower passenger and one on the drive side which is connected to the transmission. there is some what of a 4th one but that one never really goes bad and its the worst one of them all. Its located in between the 2 on the passenger side you have to move the engine outa the way to get to it and take it out. Im not sure if autozone or any place sells that one but like i said its probably still ok. i have 170000 mile on my neon and the mounts still good and trust me my cars been through alot and i mean alot its flied over cannels anyway yea so thats what i know about the mounts im not sure why the noise though. I say check the motor mounts if any are ripped change the ripped ones all at once trust me. Oh and i didnt the change on the motor mounts myself so it was free there not hard to change the first 3 i mean maybe the transmission one too all you need is a jack underneath it to keep it leveled right.

SOURCE: 2003 dodge neon motor mounts are causing vibration at accelerated

there is a motor mount that attaches frum the passenger side wheel to the tming cover. this is the mount that usually goes bad. you have to remove the wheel to see the torx bolt at the wheel well. than there are bolts on the other side of the wheel well. after you get those the ones at the motor have to be removed. you will have to place a jack under the oil pan use a piece of wood with the jack. you also have to take the top mount of first. thats pretty easy to replace.

The car vibrates when in drive while at a stop. What would cause this ?

Vibration at idle brings to mind a few suspects:

transmission mount(s) broken/missing
transmission internally worn
motor mount(s) broken/missing

(1) transmission internally worn or transmission mount broken/missing - test this by shifting into neutral at the next stop light. If the vibration disappears when you disengage the transmission, then the transmission is the source of the vibration. You'll have to inspect the transmission mounts - if they're ok, then the transmission is internally worn and can no longer smoothly "slip" while idling in drive.
(2) motor mount broken/missing - also test this by shifting into neutral at the next stop light. If the vibration persists, then the transmission is exonerated, and the vibration is coming from (under) the engine. The rubber part of motor mounts commonly crack/break and or pop out and are lost.

My 2004 dodge neon sxt makes a loud grinding and rattling noise when i accelerate. the car is vibrating

I had the same problem with a Saturn I had and I would check the motor mount. If its coming loose it can damage a lot of other things costing more than what you would need.

I HAVE A 2005 DODGE NEON 2.0 SXT MODEL. IT HAS 91,000 MILES AND HAS A SEVERE VIBRATION WHEN I ACCELERATE WE CHANGED THE MOTOR MOUNTS DID A FULL TUNE UP AND SEVERAL THINGS TO STOP THIS NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP...

We are looking to buy the same 2005 Dodge Neon 2.0 SXT that has 150,000 miles and it does the same thing - vibrates at acceleration and lacks power. We've been told by the buyer that a mechanic said the "Harmonic "Balancer" needs to be replaced. We are hoping to be able to bring the car to a mechanic tomorrow to find out what it is and if it is a major or minor repair (which will determine if we purchase the car or not!).

Have 2005 neon SXT automatic. The Transmission is not shifting smoothly, is shifting at higher rpms than normal. Has vibration when you put it in reverse.

I would suggest that you try servicing the transmission and having the fluids and filters replaced. Dodge is really good about having transmission issues related to partially plugged filters or stuck valve bodies.

Replaced motor mounts, still virbrates like before replacment. mounts were from the factory.

Vibration can be caused by other things than motor mounts. An engine misfire could cause it. A bad cylinder (or valve or piston or spark plug) could cause it. Even a bad alternator can produce vibration. Injector could be a problem - have the engine checked by a qualified technician. Replacing parts can get expensive and an incorrect diagnosis won't help with the problem or cost.

Noise and Vibration

I replaced the lower passenger side engine mount and the vibration is still there but a bit less vibration. The lower passenger mount was worn out. I was told by the Dodge service dept that it takes 5 hours to change the main hidden engine mount which is mid way up the passenger side of the engine. That main hidden mount cost 75.00

To get to it you would have to remove the wheel, inner fender plastic work, windshield washer fluid tank, and etc.
