Temperature gauge stays cold. Also check engine light stays on.
SOURCE: The heater is blowing cold but the engine temperature reads high
Hi
I would first check to see if both heater hoses are hot to the heater.
if 1 is hot and 1 is cold the heater control valve is closed or the heater core is plugged.

Hi. the vdc at the sensor seems to be fine. if the ground is sufficient, i would replace the gauge. its malfunctioning. Check for loose connection at gauge before replacing the gauge.

Look for a loose connection to the temperature sender unit on the motor.
If all connections OK, you may need a new temp sender unit.

Your coolant temp sensor is not registering. It probably set a trouble code, that's why your remote vehicle start is not working. The temp sensor is located at the rear corner of the engine block on the back side of the engine. This will be the corner of the engine closest to the driver. The temp sensor may be faulty, unlugged or there could be problem in the circuit. Even if you find the sensor unplugged and you plug it in, the code will have to be cleared before the remote vehicle start works again.

This is a common problem with Malibu's. It is due to cheap metal in the fuel gage that corrodes. Chevrolet knows about this but they refuse to issue a fix. The check engine light staying on and the faulty fuel gage are related. This is a defect and they need to recall this part! Raise hell with the dealership!
?· The gauge is working correctly and plugged into the temp sender near the thermostat.
?· You have the correct fluid level (Please be careful checking this)
?· Your heater core and engine radiator not clogged with sediment
?· Flush out your radiator and heater core
?· Replace your engine thermostat with the specified temperature range your vehicle requires (parts store tech can help you obtain the correct one)
Good Luck.
