When driving my Why would my s10 just quit

sounds like a loose power connection or bad wiring in the engine compartment. Check battery cables and ground connections at both ends of wires and cables first. If the problem remains, test equipment and a wiring diagram would come in handy.

make sure the cables are both good if they have a spot that feels flimsy the wires inside are likely corroded and the current is not running through it properly. a simple charging system check would be recommended.

1994 Ford Ranger 2.3L charging problem

You should have battery voltage on the large black orange wire that connects to the alternator.
You should have battery voltage on the yellow white and the lite green red wires.
If you don't, check for a blown fuse or fuseable link wire.

If there is no power from battery to altenator, than the altenator is bad. Even some new ones can do that. Do check all your battery cable wires including ground wires. Make sure they are all clean. also tight.

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 R/T. The check gages light went on and the voltmeter went way to the negative. Vehicle started to lose electrical power: radio, dim headlights and dashboard lights and turn...

First off, recharge the battery overnight before it freezes. It appears that you have lost the alternator function. As soon as the battery is fully charged, take the vehicle to your favorite auto parts store and have them check the alternator. Don't use any of the accessories to lighten the electrical load on the battery. If the alternator has a shorted diode, it will cause a fuseable-link to burn out in the heavy wire running from the alternator to the starter solenoid terminal (battery cable side). Hopefully, the link is hanging out of the wiring loom so that it won't be hard to find. If the link is burned out, replace it with an exact replacement. These things act as fuses. And of course, replace the defective alternator as well. Be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable before replacing the alternator and other work. Take the car back to the parts dealer after repairs and have them clear the 'check engine lite' with a scanner and verify the validity of your repairs. Hope this helps!

That may be a sign of a bad alternator. start you car and take the positive batter cable off the battery. If the car dies replace the alternator. That is a really good sign that your alternator is bad.
