Im tring to bypass the anti-theft system. what year did Ford install (paps)in the 1998 mustang
I had the same problem - My car would not start. There is a bypass button in your car that when you press and start the car at the same time the car will start. To find this button look just above the hood release lever or in that area there is the bypass button. I finally had to remove the anti-theft system and now my car starts fine. The dealer would not replace the anti-theft, but could remove it but the cost was way to high, so I went to place were they replace car radio and other similiar services and payed around $30.00 to have it remove. They also told me that I really did not need this system on my car, because you can't start the car without the key.
Hope this help.

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start

I have 2007 expedition XLT and the interior light blinking all the time what the solution ?
SOURCE: I have a 1998 ford mustang 5 speed. the theft
The theft light blinking fast because there is a problem with the PATS ,(passive antitheft system). You either have a bad chip in one of your keys,PATS transceiver on ignition cylinder or computer. If it is a key you would have to have them programmed into system which requires you to have 2 keys and certain diagnostic equipment to program them into sytem. I would take it to your service provider or someone who has the equipment to do this like a ford or lincoln, mercury dealer.Have a good one!

Should not have happened,
For the Factory RKE ( Remote Keyless Entry ) have you tried reprogramming the key fobs to your truck. The procedure is in the owners manual ( need all of them at programming time ).
This is stored in NVR, and should not need to be done, but worth a try.
If this is an aftermarket Remote start / alarm, check the owners manual for t on battery replacement. Have seen some off brand with strange battery ( truck's battery that is ) replacement steps.
