Power seats don't work on a mercedes benz 300e 1986.

Neither seat works? No function of the seat switch works? Do you hear the motor engage when a function of the switch is activated? have you checked the fuses? The seats only work when the door is either open or once the ignition switch is in the "1" position

I need more info. Is it both front seats or just the drivers. also what portions of the seat don't work.

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2014

Light on the inside or the radio are not coming on
The seat will not work either

It could be bad motors on the seat, bad switch in the door panel over 200 on internet 2.00 to get into the junkyardpanel removal tool and a phillips head and wire cutters. bad fuse or bad relay all available at the junkyard.if you have a for sure good switch and fuses a=and it doesnt work then its the motor on the seat. usually not all motors go out at once so if other parts of the seat work and one doesnt its the switch or its the motors get a few switches at the junk yard if same problem in all switches its the seat motor you need to know how to change that or get new seats hundreds of dollars cheaper at junk yard. 300 to over 1000 at any shop. go topick a part website compare prices.theres no higher price because mercedes theres only domesticv and foreign car prices.

could also be a bare wire check inside poor panel trace wire connected to switch in the door for the seat. electrical tape any bare copper cap ends and electrical tape over caps. heat shrink if you want connections. old mercedes with multiple owners could have all type of bad wiring going on under the carpet under the center console behind the radio maybe even under the hood. sometime very bad custom radio jobs tap into the existing wires and screw alot of stuff up cause they didnt know what they were doing.

Most likely dirty switches or bad fuses. Try rotating fuses and then try moving them again. Corrosion on the fuses cause "gremlins" in the system. If not find a junkyard and pull out a set of used switches or try autohausaz.com for new replacements.

If none of the seats work, it's possible the fuse is blown. Find the fusebox and read the guide to discover which fuse is for the seats. It may be blown even if it doesn't look bad--try replacing it anyway.

Repair 300e driver seat armrest

Most often this is due to a loose armrest mounting bolt or worn limit washer, unzip the cover and tighten the arm rest first, it is most likely a T45 Torx female bolt head AKA star drive.
