2002 buick century orange service engine light on

My Mom's car starts and drives fine. Approximately 85K miles on the vehicle. "Orange Service Engine Soon " light just came on. Is this a standard thing once the vehicle hits a certain mileage or is there something more I should be concerned with ??? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated on this end. Thank you !!!

Take it to a major autoparts store like autozone or orielly.. They will scan it for free and tell you what the error codes are.

SOURCE: my car is jerking while accelerating and reaching certain RPM

I would look for a fault in the ignition system such as a cracked spark plug. Might need a scope check to put your finger on the problem

SOURCE: service engine light is on in my 2004 Buick LaSabre

the service engine soon light means a fault has occurred in the engine or emission system's electronic controls, it has nothing to do with any service you did in most cases, there are over 150 problems that turn the light on, to find out what the problem may be go to any Kragen Auto or Autozone parts store and ask them to run a OBD 2 trouble code test, IT IS FREE. then post the code back here for us to look at, which is also FREE.

How to resest a security light on buick 2002

security light comes on if the chip in your key isn't reading.. Possible issue are the pickup in the key cylinder is getting old and weak. a resistor that matches the reading of your key can be added to the bottom of the steering column where the orange wiring goes into a two pin connector and it will allow yo o bypass the security so it will start

2003 buick century won't start. Ignition switch goes clickety-clickety. Can still lock doors and the lights come on. Noticed the "check engine" light but don't know if it would stay on...

Just because the battery has enough power to operate the lights and door locks does not mean it would pass a load test. If the battery checks out OK then check the battery cables. use one side of a pair of jumper cables to bypass each cable starting with the negative cable. if the vehicle now starts, replace the cable. The positive cable is harder to check using this method. attach one end of the jumper cable to the starter terminal making sure that the end of the jumper cable is not touching the engine and then attach the other end to the positive terminal of the battery. If sparking occurs when this end is connected then the jumper cable is touching ground and must be repositioned. If the problem still exists then the most likely cause is the starter solenoid. Always wear safety glasses when working around a battery.

Hi,
Pennzoil, 5-30.
I do not work for Pennzoil.( smile)
85k is reasonably low miles for the year of your Ford.

2002 Buick Century - low coolant indicator lit up twice in an hour and hasn't done it again. The dealership suggested a complete coolant flush and radiator flush. They said lower intake gasket is leaking...

The intakes on the 3.1 engines are bad to leak, most likely is the problem, cost could be up to 360.00 depending on all the do,changing and flushing cooling system, and adding expesive antifreeze.I hope this was somewhat helpfull, maybe not good news, but the truth.let us know if this was helpful,if not let us know this also.thanks,If we can help further, let us know.

Instrument Cluster Panel out on 2001 buick century

2001 Century just hit 40,000 miles and the engine light has come on. Im wondering if this is an automatic when the car trips at 40K- for a check up or whatever GM wants your money for.

ps - from '89 to 2008 I had been driving Nissans, Toyotas and Hondas - Im driving this car only because I gave my Toyata Rav4 to my daughter and got this Buick from my elderly mother as she no longer drives. Its is amazing what a piece of **** this car is compared to what Im use to. At 40,000 miles you start having the engine light come on - amazing!
