02 pontiac grand am crank no start

I have a 02 pontiac grandam with a crank no start issue. Things i know. Exhaust leak, has spark, hear fuel pump run in tank, not passlock issue. Also got car to almost start by placing my hand covering intake tube so no air got to motor. Any thoughts this has me puzzled.

SOURCE: fuel pump location 2001 pontiac grand am

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank.Sit in the car.....turn on the ignition switch to run.....listen very closely to the rear of the car...or have someone kneel down by the back wheel.....you should hear a "prime cycle"......the pump running for 2 or 3 seconds if the key was off for 15 seconds before trying this.If you hear silence you most likely need a fuel pump. Before pulling the tank down....check for power on the gray wire at the fuel tank connector just ahead of the rear axle under the car.Check for power with a test light that will last for 2 to 3 seconds as you turn on the key to run.Power means you really most likely need a pump.No power means you may need a fuse or a fuel pump relay.

Wiring diagram for the fuel system on an 02 grand am

I looked at info for the 3.4L
I need more info, I don't know what testing you have done? When you first turn on the key, no crank, can you hear the fuel pump run for a couple seconds? Did you use a gage and check proper fuel pressure.
Don't forget the fuel injectors.
The diagram is fuel pump relay--3.4L engine.

My 2000 Pontiac grand prix stop running the other day. It turns over just fine but it won't fire up could it be anything other than the fuel pump. ( I really don't want to change that)

its pretty simple to check for fuel pressure. If there is no fuel pressure than the next step is to check for power and ground at the pump. if those check out then a new fuel pump should fix the problem.

your engine needs 3 things to run. fuel, spark, and compression. if you have fuel pressure than check for spark. if there is no spark than there could an issue with a crank or cam sensor. If the crank sensor is bad than typically there will be no injector pulse as well. after cranking it over a couple times pull a plug and see if it is wet. if it is you know the crank sensor is working and the fuel pump is working and you have a spark issue. If it is dry than there is a fuel delivery issue (fuel pump/injector/injector pulse/etc.)

there are many things you can check very easily to help narrow down the possibilities.

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am why won't my car start? it just spins but wont crank. I changed the core packs and it's still not cranking

The term " CRANK" is what the Starter is doing to the Engine. I think you mean is 'it Cranks but wont Start'.
Is the engine getting Spark? Is the engine getting fuel? You need to check these two things before randomly swapping out parts.
If it's fuel starvation.. Check the fuel pump relay or possibly a bad Fuel Pump.

Put new fuel pump on 03 grandam new fuel relay sometimes it will pump but sometimes when u turn the key on it will start and smetimes it want. you can turn key back and forth and it will finally start pls...

Everytime this happens check the fuel pump if it runs. If it does not then you may have an issue with the wiring. Since the relay and the pump is new. If it runs everytime you may need to check other items such as the ignition if there are sparks and if the battery is good.

Cranks no start just died restarted a couple of times now nothing

Check to see if your fuel pump is kicking on. You should hear a buzzing sound for a second or two when you first turn the key. If you don't hear it, check your fuel pump fuse/relay or fuel reset if equipped. It could be a clogged fuel filter. You need to make sure gas is getting fuel to the engine. If it is, then you need to check for spark. It may be because of spark plugs/coils, wires, distributor, dist.cap, rotor, cam sensor, crank sensor, ecm. When you car doesn't start but cranks, there is many things that can cause that. You need to do a spark test and make sure that your getting good spark. It could be the timing belt. You need fuel and spark to start the car.

1995 Pontiac Grand Am won't start

is it poss the engine is flooded with fuel? if you can remove the spark plugs see how wet they are. If wet, replace turn engine over while they are out remove fuel pump fuse and coil pack conector b4 you do this if unable to do this hold the gas pedal down all the way to the floor your vehicle is fuel injected this will create a fuel shut off mode which while held down will not deliver any fuel to the engine as the engine starts to fire and run rough take you foot of the pedal ane nurse it until it runs ok if it runs get your mechanic to check for leaking injectors dripping over night

Fuel injector over fueling

all the injectors are supposed to constantly spray fuel when the car is runing,
but on the hard to start it might be a worn out fuel pump or
a leak on the fuel pressure regulator, unplug the vacium hose from the regulator and if there is any fuel at all then regulator is not good
