My mazda 323 familia automatic is not changing gears properly. it only shifts Reverse, 1 and 2 after the second gear is flashes a hold light on the deshboard what could be the problem? i was imported from singapore

it seems that the gear bushings have worn out. you need to take your car to a mechanic to have the bushings changed. Also, please check it your car has enough Automatic Transmission Fluid.

Errr, it might also be due to the "Hold" button (lower of the two buttons on the stick shift) being pressed while in 2nd gear. This activates an "Hold" function for the gear the car is in when the button is pressed. Press the button again and I think you'll find the problem disappears - without resorting to paying extortionate fees to an underqualified "expert" in the trade. 8-)
