Brake sound when I depress the pedal

Probably not your tail lights but your brake lights. What commonly happens is that the switch either goes bad and sticks closed or it gets knocked out of position.

The switch should be mounted under the dash up around the steering column where it can contact the brake pedal arm. When not applying the brakes the switch has a piston-like piece that rides against the steel arm going up from the brake pedal. In this depressed position the brake lights are off. When you press the brake pedal the piston extends and the brake lights come on.

The switch is typically about 2-3" long and 1-1/2" height and width with one or two wires attached to it. It will be attached to normally an unpainted metal plate bent at 90 degrees and mounted where the switch will be directly in front (towards the firewall) of the brake pedal arm. If its been knocked out of position you'll need to get it remounted and positioned where the piston is depressed with the brake pedal in its normal position and the piston comes free of the brake arm when the pedal is depressed. It's a two person job. Ti check to see if the switch works just press the plunger in and the lights should go off. If not replace the switch.

Hi , I cant think of anything between the pedal and booster that would cause this noise,does the steering wobble ? if so could be something in that system , wheel bearings ok ? this is a tough one to diagnose without hearing it

You need to have the brakes inspected. This noise is the brake pad wear warning tab hitting the brake rotor.;

Can be a shift cable binding at times or the shift lock solenoid is going bad
Both items are dealer only to replace if purchased

Most likely the brake light switch located down on the brake pedal lever has either malfunctioned, or is out of adjustment, and when the brake pedal is in the "up" position the brake light switch should be fully depressed, and if it is not then dis-connect the wiring connector to the brake light switch and then turn the brake light switch in until it just fully depresses the brake light switch, and then tighten the locking nut(s) and reconnect the wire connector to the brake light switch, and then test to see that the brake lights are working properly.

If the brake light switch seems to be adjusted properly, then dis-connect the wiring connector to the brake light switch, and if the brake lights go out then replace the brake light switch and adjust it as described above.

Check your brake light switch at your brake pedal make sure that you have power coming in and then going out with pedal depressed if that is ok check for a faulty turn signal switch the brake lights run thru the switch on the hazard circuit.

under you steering column there is your brake pedal follow the pedal arm up to a brake switch it must have come out of place or its bad the way it works is when you step on the pedal the arm moves away from the switch causing it to connect power to the stop lights so it must not be touching when not being depressed push the switch forward towards arm this should fix your problem.

Sounds like the brake light switch on the brake pedal is bad. Try turning the key just off the locked position, shift into neutral and start the engine. If you turn the key to the to far to the on position the shift interlock engages and will only release when the brake lamp switch activates.

Sound like you may have a broken motor mount which allows the engine to move pulling the gas pedal cable, raceing the engine.

that has to do with the pedal assm. check there first. sounds like the latch to release the brake is not retracting
