REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF CAR OVER HEATING WHILE IN MOTION.MORE LIKELY ITS THE THERMOSTAT,LOW COOLANT IN RADIATOR OR COOLANT SYSTEM,BAD WATER PUMP,WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IS LEAKING, WATER PUMP NEEDS REPLACING.CHECK ENGINE OIL,IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE YOU HAVE LEAKING HEAD GASKET.IF CAR IN PARK AND OVER HEATS WHILE IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE OR.BANK DRIVE THROUGH COOLANT FAN NOT TURNING ON, BECAUSE THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTY.CODE SCAN CAR FOR FAULTY COOLANT FAN RELAY OR FAULTY PCM. CHECK COOLANT FAN FUSE, AND HOT WIRE THE COOLANT FAN TO MAKE SURE ITS WORKING.IF COOLANT FAN DONT WORK WHEN HOT WIRED. COOLANT FAN NEEDS REPLACING. REPLACE BOTH RADIATOR HOSES, REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.BUY NEW COOLANT ADD 50/50 WATER AND COOLANT.IF ENGINE OIL HAS ANTIFREEZE IN IT.REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER TO KEEP FROM LOCKING UP THE ENGINE.GET CAR FIX.DONT KEEP DRIVING IF IT KEEP OVER HEATING,ENGINE DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.I HOPE INFORMATION I GAVE YOU WILL FIX PROBLEM.PROBLEM COULD BE LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES BUT CHANGE THERMOSTAT THATS FIRST THING I WOULD CHANGE BECAUSE IF IT CLOSED, ENGINE WILL OVER HEAT AND CRACK CYLINDER HEAD OR CRACK PISTON, COOLANT NEED TO CIRCULATE THROUGH THE ENGINE TO TAKE AWAY THE HEAT FROM ENGINE.

My gauge on my civic reads HOT but the car is fine. no smoke, no stalling, as if nothing is wrong... drove it 50miles today on "HOT" read but nothing wrong. i just changed the temp sensor and the...

Hondas are very tough cars and will run hot right up until a radiator hose ruptures. You need to make sure that there is not a problem.
When your Honda says it is hot, make sure the radiator fan is running. If not, it can be a bad fan or fan relay.
Next, turn on the heat full blast and make sure that you have allot of heat coming into the car. If not, even though your overflow tank has fluid in it, your radiator may be dry. This can happen if your radiator cap is bad. Check the fluid level in the radiator itself, but don't pull the cap until your car has cooled down at least an hour to reduce the risk of getting burned by steam.
If it stops reading HOT when you have full heat on it could be either the thermostat or a plugged radiator. Change the thermostat first since it is the cheapest fix.

1997 honda civic over temp. Have replaced radiator, hoses and thermostat. Ran well for awhile and then started to overheat. Checked the coolant reservor and found it empty. Refilled and tried to bleed...

Generally if one hose is hot, and the other hose is cold it indicates that they water is not circulating. You could have a defective thermostat. Take the thermostat out and run the engine without it. With the radiator cap off you should see a lot of water moving through. It that is the case, replace the thermostat and you should be ok. If there is no rapid movement of water it may be the impeller on the water pump came loose. This is rare, but it can happen since the impeller is usually pressed on the shaft. You should also check and see if you get a lot of bubbles when the car is running and the cap off. This often indicates a blown head gasket. Hope this helps.

We have replace the water pump, thermostat, sensor, replace cap for radiator coolant, and replace the radiator. The car keeps running hot.

Oil level and correct grade of oil? Oil filter? Rent a temp gun from an auto store and check for actual temp. If it is running hot you still have a leak, like on a hose or the reservoir or maybe you didnt get all the air bubbles out. Also thermostats can come bad, replace again.

1996 Acura 3.2TL Overheating Problem...

From your description of symtoms it sounds like you have a bad water pump. If the coolant is not circulating properly you will have a heating problem. Sometimes even a new thermostat can stick and cause the engine to overheat. I have seen them fail in as little as a week after they were installed.

Bad thermostat, or cracked head. If it has been run hot, most likely the head is bad.
