I have replaced the u joints and outer wheel bearings. with the rear end elevated the truck in gear I still have a vibration. I removed the rear half of the drive shaft and run the truck in gear and no more vibration... Drive shaft or rear end?

The carrier bearing should not move at all. It is mounted in rubber to give a little. But, it should not move freely. If this is the case then something has gone bad. The carrier bearing would cause this vibration as it spins if it is loose.

remove the rear shaft from a 1990 full size gmc van (g-van) make sure the one you select has the scew on sleeve at the front of the rear section of the shaft
this will be the right lenght
take the rear yolk off your old shaft cut of the ball socket now get the same u-joint your truck calls for and mount the rear yolk (the section of the shaft that bolts to your rear end) to the new shaft
this works ive done it
you eliminate 2 of the 4 u-joints and lighten up your shaft this releives strain on you tranny and rear end when these u-joints and ball bearings fail they cause the vibrations which ruin the rest of your drive train also you gain 10hp
i spent 300 bucks rebuilding the OEM shaft and got no where so for 25 bucks i did this

Could be a u-joint. Check it by moving the drive shaft side to side, if no play in the u-joints then they are not bad. If you need to replace the drive shaft I would suggest you find one at a salvage yard versus paying that much for a new one.

It is likely both your track bar and the lack of a steering gear box stabilizer. The bushings on your stock track bar can be replaced with polyeurethane or metal bushings which will help curb the problem.
The steering stabilizer attaches to your steering gear box and your frame allowing the steering to be more stable. I have put both on my truck and it drives like a caddy now as a result. If I had to choose between the two items, my money would go to the steering stabilizer first. I believe I bought mine here:

Hope this helps

i would suspect bad driveshaft hanger bearing - to confirm, jack up back end of truck and hold up with jack stands. have someone in the truck to accelerate to the speed where you hear the noise, listen for the noise - a stethescope is very useful for this. good luck!

I also ran it elevated with no tires on and still had vibration But I have not checked for a bent axle that will be my next thing to look at although I dont remember hitting anything very hard (potholes) I avoid them when I can
do any of the joints on the driveshaft have play? what about the carrier bearing?
I have replaced all of the joints, the carrier bearing rubber isnt in the best shape but the bearing turns freely. I have run the truck in gear with the front half of the shaft in place and it runs smoothly
