So you know how to work the latch, and the latch is working.
Now you need to look and the holding bar, if you have to remover the plastic cover to see how it's bolted on do it.
Sounds like the bar moved down so the trunk hits the gasket before it can lock on the bar.
See if loosening the bar bolts will allow the bar to be raised just a hair.
Ok I think I understand what your saying. I will try it now. Thank u so much. This was my first time using this fixya app and u responded back in like 3 min lol. Thanks!
Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated, hope you can get it to raised up enough so it works.
P.S. If someone slammed the trunk when the latch was locked for closed this can drop the bar, or this could have dented the latch into the hood, if this happened you either have to have it pulled out or try setting a washer behind each bolt to drop it away from the hood.
Thanks odiebugs I got my tool box and I'm ready to fix something...lol
LOL
Hey the metal on the bottom is hitting the latch and the latch is coming out but, I think not far enough to go under the bar to lock it. Dora that make any sense?
Is there a spring in it that pushes the lock out? Maybe that's broke?
I see its just not pushing it far enough up
I fixed it! I bent the bottom latch to the right so it would line up with the top latch and it worked! Thanks bud! This app is awesome!
Look across the top of the bar, is the bar dented ? if not, I know this sounds crazy, but get another person, see if you can get in trunk with a good flashlight and close it to see what is hitting, some people use blueing color and wipe it on the latches to see what is hitting.
Can you see how the locking latch is bolted on, can you try adding washers behind the bolts so the latch is father down so it hits the lock arm better ?
Miller Time !!!!! LOL
Sorry I missed the centering, but normally if it's off center you fell the trunk move because it's off center, but glad you got it working.

do you have the striker plate missing? if not i had spryed some WD-40 on my and it worked. if you have striker plate missing try to put some tape,(electrical tape). you can find these parts at cjponypats.com, part #TLSP5 they are about $30 or less
SOURCE: trunk latch doe snot line up. So cannot shut trunk
trunk latch has to be adjusted. check with a nearby body shop, it's simple to do.
SOURCE: latch on trunk wont work
use duct tape to hold the lid down.....just kidding. insert the key into the lock and see if it will UNLOCK.

If it has a trunk release it sounds to be frozen..Also some close themselves electrically...But I am sure you would know if it is electric or not..If not check for a trunck fuse in the fuse box or the owners manual would be the best...If it is a manual trunk and is stuck or frozen you should be able to move the trunk latch with a big flat prybar...And if it is out of alignment the adjustment is at the striker that is mounted to the lid and not the latch itself....Hope thhis helps......Metalpoet

Two things happen. One the latch is already latched and therefore it's closed before the gate shut, When you try to close it you might notice that the door don't close all the way. This doe'snt have to be thwe case. the other thing that happens if the lock mechanism is working, You here it click? The latch is stuck as the opener is stuck. You might get lucky and spray the latch with Blaster or other rust buster type penatrant. Theres angles though the opening of the latch . Spray on several angles and repleatly close the door trying to vibrate the Penatrant into the stuck area. Looking at the latch use a screw driver to move the latch and see if you can cycle it though it's positions to see if you can latch and unlatch it with the tool and reopen by pullung the handle ( you may need to try ther inside handle too and even the remote openner if you have one. Ussaaaly you need to push the button twice to open the rear hatch so it may take a few trys and spraying to get it to come loose.. Some vehicals stay closed a long time and stuck is the way to think.. But if the door is used often the linkage inside the door mayh have come off the the latch is closed and the linkage doesn't open the laTCH AND THE THING MANAGED TO GET CLOSED WITHT THE DOOR OPEN.
