08 4Runner 2 rust patches leading edge of sunroof One over driver other over passenger. No evidence oflak on headliner. Drains? Can rust spots be repaired/refnished?

No evidence of leak on headliner. Can rust be sanded and primed? Do drains need cleaning? Is this a chronic prob w/the model? I've had several cars w/roofs, never had an issue. Just bought this used, good shape otherwise. Oh, interior door/window panels are dog scratched. $400 EACH to replace. Rediculous...

SOURCE: there is a water leak

Your A/C drain hose may be plugged. If so, the condensate from the A/C box will leak onto the floor, and eventually soak the rear carpet as well. This is a common issue. It is under the glove box, close to the passenger floor. Remove it and make sure that it is open. Alos, always run the A/C in the RECIRC mode.

Water in the trunk can be from a bad trunk seal or poorly sealed taillamp seams

SOURCE: How to remove 94 Camry driver door panel

should be 3 screws in the handle, with caps over them, also 2 screws in the in the crease when you open door they are closest to the hinges and i believe there are 2 more on the side of the door opposite of the mirror side, they all have small screw covers over them so they are kind of hidden, then there are 2 to 3 pop ins in the bottom of the panel that you might have to pull out but they are on the inside of the panel, the door handle cover is a lil hard to get off you will have to mess with it alil but there arent any screws holding it on

the window may need an actuator

SOURCE: there is a water leak

This would be your Heater core. They are very cheap to purchase but not so easy to put in since you have to drop the underneath of the dashboard out and aslo have to remove the lines from inside the engine compartmnet. The water goes from the radiator through the heater core to produce the heat for your heater. You should check your radiator or overflow bottle and if the water level is low then this is definetly your problem. This is the most logical, however there could but unlikely be a leak from your windshield. The heator core is located exactly where you say the water is coming from. After reading more does this happen more times other then when it is raining?

The driver's side floorboard of my 2013 Chevy Captiva is soaking wet. There is no evidence of water anywhere else. No dripping water from sunroof, on dash or seats.

Odds are you have a plugged drain tube somewhere.
The sunroof will have a drain tube running down one side of the car through one of the pillars.
The HVAC unit has a drain tube ... but that usually drains on the passenger side ... so probably not that
The windshield cowl area (where wipers are) has a drain tube...which if plugged could lead to water getting probably on either side. You may have to experiment with pouring water in those areas and seeing if it freely drains to the underside of the the car to determine which drain tube could be the culprit.
Ohter non drain tube issues ... you have probably already checked ... like the rubber seals around the driver's door

I've got a 2006 Saturn Vue that keeps getting water in the front, under the floor mats. It appears to be coming from the center underneath and behind the instrument cluster/center console. Could this be...

The most common source of water on the floor is a plugged a/c evaporator case drain hose. This drain is generally located down low on the engine side of the firewall at the passenger side and is usually a small short open ended hose that points down. Debris and bugs will clog this hose which makes the water that condenses on the evaporator [whenever the a/c is on] overflow and leak out of the heater/air conditioning housing and onto the floor. If it hasn't rained for some time yet you are still getting water on the floor I would bet on this hose being plugged. A puff of compressed air is enough to clean most of them out. Most sunroofs have one or two small drain holes that allow water to run down through the door pillars and onto the ground. If you pour a small amount of water around the top edges of the sunroof when it is closed you should soon see water dripping onto the ground under the outer edge of the vehicle. A few sunroofs just rely on tight weather stripping to keep the water out but those usually drip water on the driver or passenger if they are leaking. I see a lot of leaky windshields but again, it has to be raining for water to get on the floor from them.

The sunroof is leaking and the water is ending up on the passenger floor in puddles. Are you familiar with this problem?

If the actual seals around the sunroof are okay, you may need to clean out the drains. These drains usually follow down the a-pillars and dump underneath the car. The sunroof will always get water in it, and that's why it has drains. Over time, these drains get clogged with dirt and leaves, etc. and back up. With nowhere else to go, the water will leak right into the car. This problem is better dealt with by a mechanic with some experience, but if you can get to the drains, either by removing the headliner or removing the sunroof glass, you can blow them out with compressed air, or if that doesn't work, run a long wire through them, just be careful not to puncture the drains (they're usually rubber or plastic tubing) as this will cause another, harder-to-fix leak.

Good Luck, hope this helps!

2002 Honda Accord Wet Floor

most common problem is the a/c condensor tube is clogged and is under the car and needs to be cleared with compressed air. also the sunroof track has 4 drain tubes and the right front may be clogged or leaking. you can check that by pouring a cup of water down the right front drain tube in the sunroof track and see if water comes out by the right front wheel

My 1996 tahoe is leaking water ,carpets are wet

Statistacally--most leaks come from sunroofs and yes they can be one side or the other. Happens from clogged drains. Sunroof drains run across the headliner and down the a-pillar. you can have them cleaned and checked. This is all assuming you have a sunroof. Hope I helped. Thanks.
