The low beams stopped working but my high beams still do on my 1999 Mazda Protege.

Both low-beams stopped working at the same time so I switched to high-beams and they work. I looked in the owners manual and checked the fuses for the headlights in the fuse box under the hood but couldn't figure out which fuses are for the headlights inside the cabin for the headlights so I couldn't check them.

  1. I own a Protege and once the low beam bulb burns on one headlight the car electronics quickly cook the bulb on the other headlight as well. it is a poor design by the mfr. Pull both bulbs to make sure the low beam is not cooked.

SOURCE: can't find the turn signal or emergency flasher fuse for 1998

Conrad, up north.
My protege is a '99. The turn signals and hazard flashers use the same flasher unit. It is located under the dash to the left of the steering wheel and above and a bit to the right right of the driver's side fuse box.

1999 mazda protege headlights

The head lights are powered by the battery through the ignition switch. The headlight relay may be malfunctioning.

I have found a link for your car in case you wish to replace. It's the same I use to buy parts for my car. I hope it's useful.

Both low headlight beams went out at the same time but the high beams work just fine

Well, you could conceivably have 2 burned out low beam elements. It could be caused by a bad dimmer switch. If your vehicle is equipped with Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), it could be caused by a bad DRL Relay. It could also be caused by a break in the WHITE/BLUE wire between the headlamp switch and the DRL Relay. The voltage needs to be checked at each of these components to determine which is the cause.

No headlights come on but high beams work as well as the other lights the fuses seem to be ok. Please help.

If your highbeams are working fine, you must be referring to your low beams not working I would simply check the 2 bulbs and make sure the low beam filament is good, theres a strong possibility that your BOTH low beam filaments are bad and require replacement of both headlight bulbs to get them working again its a very simple repair.....
