If you cannot use your key to open the boot and/ or glove box it may be that you are using the valet key instead of the full access key. You can start and lock the car with this key but not access the boot or glove box.
Look in the glove box. You will see on the left hand side 3 switches On relates to the electronic boot switch. Make sure it's turned on.

Yes you can what you like providing it fits in the hole ,now check the air vent as some new type batteries are sealed units and dont have one but some are blanked off with a plastic plug which you pull out and fit the vent pipe to it .Now as for physicaly changing a battery then look for how its clamped in or a strap over the top as i have never worked on this model vehicle

I had to locate a positive and negative connection inside the car under the front passenger footwell, and from there jumped the battery, once battery had enough power pushed the release button on dash and opened the trunk, put the car on charger to fully recharge the battery.you will need to pull all carpeting off and underneath there is a metal plate with four screws at each corner. remove the plate, and batter connection is on the left side toward the middle of the car, noticeable by a thick red (positive) cable.
