1998 Astro Van Heater AC Blower only works on medium & Low

I have a 1998 Chevrolet Astro Van and the blower quit the other day, so I thought I lost the blower, I checked voltage to the plug and it measured 13.89 volts on the high setting so I pulled the blower out and tested it by just plugging it in and it worked. I thought it was intermitten and decided to replace it, after a new blower it worked fine for a couple days and then all of a sudden it's inop, then it starts working on MED and LOW but will not work on HIGH. My question is doesn't the high setting bypass the resistor so wouldn't that rule out a bad resistor and point towards it being a bad controler?

Thanks

Thank you, I didn't want to buy a $285.00 dash control when it may be the resistor.

    Thanks

On my 95 Astro van, the fire wall connector (behind the battery) was making intermittent contact, so the fan would not work on H. Connector was melted due to high current over so many years into fan. Replaced connector (dealer part) and fan.

Yes, in high it bypasses the resistor and uses a high blower relay. But I think on 1998 Astro the High relay and the resistor are built together. It should be mounted in the blower box real close to the blower motor.

Where is the heater blower fan fuse on a 1995 Astro van?

Fuse 12 HTR/AC in the instrument panel box, and there is also an HVAC fuse in the under hood fuse box. These vehicles had trouble with the plugs that connect to the blower motor resistor, and the blower motor, located just below the blower motor under the hood on the passenger side.

1996 astro chevy van heater use to work on low and med but wont work at all now.

The blower resistor has gone bad which is why you lost blower speeds. This may have been caused by the blower motor drawing too much power. At this point I would verify that no fuses burned out and then check the pigtail plugs going to the resistor and blower motor to make sure the connectors and connections are not melted or wiring is frayed. These connectors are located in the engine compartment on the passenger side. After checking this and if everything appears ok then the blower motor itself has probably gone bad and needs replaced. I would also replace the blower motor resistor as well. If the connectors appear damaged replace or repair as needed .

2005 Chevy astro van, 4.3L A/c, Blower motor,

It could be a bad blower motor - tap on the blower motor with the end of a hammer when you have the switch in the on position - if it comes on then it is a bad blower motor. If it doesn't come on I would check to make sure you are getting power and ground to the HVAC control head.

Motor heater not working on low and sometimes on high

Blower/Heater Switch Operation: 0900823d8004c694.jpgThis electrical switch, located in a fuse or breaker protected circuit, controls the rpm of the blower motor through a series of control relays and a rheostat. Sometimes the A/C compressor clutch is energized by this switch.
