Spot free car windows

Have you ever washed your car and let it dry in the sun? Ever notice the spots left behind on your windows and outside mirrors? Well, I have. After years of looking at "dirty" windows after washing, I have found a way to keep the spots from forming. After I wash the car, I simply take a cotton towel and slowly wipe the windows down, allowing the towel to soak up as much water as possible. Once I have finished drying the windows, I simply take a micro fiber towel and wipe the glass down. Plus, about once a month, I clean the exterior glass with Windex and wipe down with my micro fiber towel and "buff" the glass to a shine. Each time I wash my car, I no longer have to worry about "dirty" clean windows again.

Water spots after drying is an indicator of hard water (calcium-lime and other minerals) Bore water or other than town water. It may be necessary to use a light buffering cream after drying to remove the marks

Flat spots on tyres

hi these ar caused by either severe heavy braking like locking up the wheels in a skid will cause the rubber to be worn away by the road llike a cheese grater
or if a tyre is old and has been under inflated with air can become misshapen
either way the solution is to replace your tyres that are affected and maintain the correct pressure

After heavy rain I seem to be getting water in the drivers side footwell, have you any ideas what the cause maybe, I havent looked myself yet as I am a female living alone and not up on these things...

Most floor leaks that show up after sitting in the heavy rain are leaking windshields...have you had your windshield replaced before? (The windshield installation should be under warranty...at least 1 year:) If you are driving and the floorboard is filling up...the floorboard itself must have a hole or plug missing...The VW usually has floor drain plugs located under the carpet...from your description, the windshield is probably the cause...are there any window trim pieces missing? This is an annoying problem...you can also test the windshield by having someone run a garden hose on the outside while you look inside for the penetration spot or spots...Hope this helps. A glass shop might do a free inspection...

I would guess a bad spark plug wire. Moist air will provide a path for the spark to jump to ground from a bad plug wire. You could test with a windex bottle filled with water and spray the engine in different spots. Also check for moisture under the distibutor cap.

Acid rain on car windows

Hi,

Follow the below steps ;-

  1. Clean your window as normal, with a lint-free cloth. Spots left over from acid rain are sometimes difficult to discern from simple water spots--with luck, your glass is only dirty, and not damaged. Follow up the initial wipe-down with an application of Windex. Try to let the window dry out of direct sunlight, in order to prevent ugly streaking.
  2. Dust the spots with a thin layer of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Take a damp rag, and scrub the water spots with a liberal amount of elbow grease. The baking soda is an effective, readily-available abrasive medium that will remove the spots without damaging the underlying glass. For an extra abrasive edge, consider scrubbing with an old toothbrush. If the spots persist, however, move on to Step 3.
  3. Apply a small amount of cutting compound to a super-fine (Grade #0000) steel wool soap pad. Cutting compound suspends an abrasive in a paste that can then be applied to your glass, and the soap pad will scrub more effectively than a simple cloth. Do a test on a small patch of glass before you apply this method to the whole window, to ensure that your window will endure treatment.
  4. Attack any remaining spots with the same amount of vigor and elbow grease--acid marks can be incredibly persistent, and at this point you're polishing more than you are cleaning. After an appropriate amount of effort, check to see if any stains still persist. If stains are still readily detectable, try repeating this step while using a cutting compound of smaller grit size.
  5. Assess the final result, after all reasonable effort has been exhausted. As the name suggests, acid rain actually etches into the surface of the glass. If the damage is extensive enough that it impairs the functionality of the window, you may have to bite the bullet and obtain new glass.

Hard water stains on my car's wind screen

Windex and newspaper should do. You sure they are water spots and not the glass? When they set out the plastic impregnated in the glass (safety glass), seperates slightly and looks like a water spot or even a bubble. It is a combination of heat & sun rays. May have to live with it or replace the glass.
