93 camry 2.2 no power to fuel pump

I have a 93 camry 4 cylinder 5 speed that would not start one very cold morning.

It still would not start when it warmed up. Traced problem to no power at fuel pump connector. The fuel pump runs when power is applied directly.

Where are the relays, safety switch, fusible links, etc?

SOURCE: How to remove ignition cylinder from Toyota Camry 1993

Here are step-by-step instructions for the removal and re-installation of your ignition cylinder on your Toyota. Hope this sheds some light on the subject and solves your problem. Have a great day!

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an air bag, wait at least 90 seconds before working on the vehicle.
CAUTIONSome models covered by this guidemay be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in .
  1. Remove the lower steering column cover. Unfasten the ignition switch connector under the instrument panel.
  2. Remove the screws which secure the upper and lower halves of the steering column cover.
  3. Turn the lock cylinder to the ACC position with the ignition key.
  4. Push the lock cylinder stop in with a small, round object (cotter pin, punch, etc.).
On some vehicles, it may be necessary to remove the steering wheel and combination switch first.
  1. Withdraw the lock cylinder from the lock housing while depressing the stop tab.
  2. To remove the ignition switch, unfasten its securing screws and withdraw the switch from the lock housing.
To install:
  1. Align the locking cam with the hole in the ignition switch and insert the switch into the lock housing.
  2. Secure the switch with its screw(s).
  3. Make sure both the lock cylinder and column lock are in the ACC position. Slide the cylinder into the lock housing until the stop tab engages the hole in the lock.
  4. Install the steering column covers.
  5. Connect the ignition switch wiring.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.

SOURCE: 1995 camry has no ignition fire

I think for sure that the timing belt has jumped a tooth. This can happen if your water pump, or your idler pulley, which are driven by the timing belt, "locks up" for a second. Best advice: replace the timing belt (you should not "reuse" it, as once it slips a tooth, that tooth is now weakend. Also, check the feel of the water pump impeller-gear...if it feels gritty or does not spin freely, replace the water pump while you are in there. It's not much more work. Also check the IDLER pulley for the same feel. If it feels bad/does not spin free, replace it. One or the other caused your problem.
Let me know how it turen out.

Ranger looses power up hill

I am assuming you have the 2.3 liter 4cylinder engine.. This is common in all rangers straight out of the factory with that motor. Your asking alot out of a 4 cylinder truck that also get good gas mileage. they just do not have the capacity to gain speed up a hill. There are a few solutions for you that you could try. If it is a 5 speed manual transmission try to speed up before the hill and when you start losing speed go to 4th gear. this is also good for using as a passing gear as im sure you have noticed you lack power when trying to rapidly accelerate at highway speed to pass. an aftermarket cold air intake combined with a less restrictive exuast will give you anywhere from 5-20 hp gain AND give you more MPG's

Or you can buy a light truck with a v6 or v8 in it. rangers can be equipped with v6 as can chevy s10's. dodge dakotas have the availability of small block v8. this is of course will cost you alot in gas (based on experience) I am a 10 yr mechanic and have owned 2- 4 cylinder rangers a 93 and a 94 my dakota which i still own is a 01

93' toyota camry takes to long to warm up in the

Sounds like a dead spark plug or faulty wire, or even out of time. Start with changing plugs. No change, do the wires. No change check the timing belt. It may have jumped a cog. As for the slow to warm up part, the misfire won't help that problem, but you may need to change the thermostat if it doesn't improve once you get it running on all cylinders.

Hard to start / engine rotates but wont start

check fuel pressure with a gauge, turn the key in the on position an read pressure ,if pressure goes lets say to 40 or 50 on one key cycle pump is prob. good . if it takes 3 to 4 key cycles to achieve this pressure ,pump is bad or connection in tank is bleeding off over night.
