If engine is behaving as if it is going to start , if the ignition key is turn on

Always verify the easy to do, First using a small diameter phillips head screw driver, remove a spark plug wire and put the screwdriver up inside of the metal contact where the plug normally would make its connection. Place the screw driver around an inch away from the valve cover or any other ground. While not touching the screw driver crank the engine over and have a friend look for spark jumping from the screw driver to the grounded part. If indeed spark is present verify fuel level. Regardless of what the gauge says, put 5 gallons in the vehicle. Very easy to do (not so cheap to do now days) But fuel gauges read incorrectly all the time. If you have spark and it doesn't run after adding fuel we will have to verify its getting fuel. Fuel pump would be the next thing but lets verify spark to the the engine first. If indeed you do, take a second to pull a plug out and check its condtion.

Its actually not that bad to change. If you open the glove box and remove the screws then the screws along the bottom of the glove box at the bottom of the dash the box will slide out. Remember to disconnect the light if it has one. Now you will be able to see the underside of the dash. You can see a large black box that has wires and vacuum lines all over. You need to locate a small flat plate with two screws and a plug in the middle. Disconnect the plug and remove the screws. The resistor will come straight out. The back side will look like small coiled up springs of different sizes. Install in reverse.Hope this helps. Good luck. Please re-post with updates. Thanks cj2176.
