Not getting fuel from tank to engien, checked lines thats not the problem, hooked up a electrical fuel pump and it ran fine. and yes it does have gas.

We hooked up a gravity feed and that worked just fine, so we figured maybe it just needed gas ran through it to get it primed since it sat for a few years, but it still wouldnt start so we hooked up a electrical fuel pump and it still ran ok. but now i dont know if i need to replace the whole fuel pump or just the little electrical plug on it. and when we unhooked it we had to move it after and i dont know where all the lines and clamp went to.

It could be the pump or the pump relay. relay is most come to go with the age but same as the pump if it has never been replaced in the past.

SOURCE: Car won't start, possibly fuel pump, where is it?

FIRST CHECK THE FUSE AND THE RELAY TO THE FUEL PUMP, IN THE FUSE BOX. IF THEY BOTH CHECK OUT OK THEN LOOK EITHER UNDER THE REAR SEAT OR UNDER THE TRUNK MAT FOR WIRES THAT LEAD TO THE PUMP. IN SOME CASES THE FUEL TANK HAS TO BE DROPPED TO REMOVE THE PUMP. HOPE IT IS JUST A FUSE. GOOD LUCK

it starts from cold because the auto choke is on ,allowing a richer mixture ,try removing the sender unit in the tank and seeing if the connection from the pump to the outlet connection is ok or leaking causing a loss of fuel pressure

Ran out gas put gas in it still wont start

If you run out of gas in this truck it will quickly destroy a fuel pump, the electric pump is located inside the gas tank, it is tiny and to do its job it uses the gasoline it is immersed in for cooling, if you run the tank below 1/8 tank level the pump is going to run hot, if you run out of gas the pumps rotor bearings get very hot and if the pump gets hot enough the rotor seizes up. Also when you run out of gas it takes more than 1 gallon to get the pump to prime again, 3 gallons minimum is the least amount. The bottom line here is that you will more than likely need to pull the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump.

Ran out of gas then filled up now car wont start. I have a 97 pontiac sunfire

The electric fuel pump located in the gas tank can and do burn out, from running out of gas. If it won't run, the fuel pressure will need to be checked to make certain it is the fuel pump. A fuel filter can get plugged and the motor will quit running, but you are sure that you ran out of gas?

I have a 2001 saturn that ran out of gas put gas in it wont fire up checked the fuel line presure release no gas in the line checked fuse all good..... do you think its the fuel pump?

THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP IN THIS CAR IS IN THE GAS TANK AND IT IS COOLED BY THE FUEL IT RUNS IN, WHEN U RUN OUT OF GAS YOU SEVERLY OVERHEAT THE PUMP AND THEY SEIZE UP, WHICH IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR PUMP, U WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE GAS TANK AND REPLACE THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP.

I ran out of gas

The fuel pump in this car is electric and is inside the fuel tank, it uses the fuel it sets in for lubrication and for cooling, when u run out of gas this causes the tiny electric pump to severly overheat and many times it ruins the pump, and that is what has happened here, u will need to pull the gas tank and replace the fuel pump. also replace the fuel filter.

The battery is fine. The truck ran out of gas now

many times after a vehicle runs out of gas the fuel filter has picked up all the **** in the tank and is clogged check to see if this is the problem or you might possibly have vapor lock due to air in the line when the tank ran dry

1976 gmc 350 - no fuel getting to carb, I disconected the fuel line from the carb & cranked - nothing came out but I could heaar the pump working and feel some air being blown out - yes there is fuel...

yes it is probably the pump or a problem in one of the fuel lines but i would bet more on the fuel pump or suction line into the tank. If you can take the line off going to the tank put it in a jug of gas and see if the pump will pump it to the carb or the engine will run.

Not starting ran out of gas, added gas and still not starting, can hear fuel pump running, smell gas at engine and exhaust.

Gas line filter may be dirty and clogged. Change it. There could be sediment or dirt in the tank that you drew up to the filter when you ran out of gas and it has built up and is blocking gas from getting into the engine.
