SOURCE: vehicle will not start

try having someone turn the key to the start position while you tap on the starter it may be jammed or you might check for misallignment of the starter and make sure it is wired right.

SOURCE: 1988 Chevy pickup odometer doesn't work

they are spring loaded and mechanical. if a spring wears out or breaks it won't work. you can replace it with another one but the actual miles won't be there or you could go with a digital set.

Son tried to hotwire 2009 chevy equinoxt. now wont start

probably the starter is burned, and the anti theft system is activated. best bet is to have it towed since it is still new and insurance can still deal with it

1988 Trans Am will not start when ignition is turned all the way.

Take a test light to the small wire on the starter and have someone turn it to the start position. If the light lights up and the engine doesn't turn over, I would suspect the starter itself. If the test light doesn't light, try it in neutral and repeat test. If it still doesn't light up, it may be the PRNDL switch or the ignition switch itself.

check the battery voltage ,. if it;s above 12 volts then test the wire going to the solenoid to see if it has 12 volts when turning the key to start. if it does then the solenoid or starter could be bad/

I haven't started my 1988 Chevy 305 truck in a few years. I put a squirt of lubricate in each cylinder, made sure there was oil and coolant, and a new battery. When I tried to turn the key it wou

I would check to see if you are getting 12 volts at the starter. You should have one wire coming from the ignition that gets system voltage when you turn the key to the start position. You'll also have one from the battery that will be hot all the time.

Car only starts sometimes

The start circuit from the ignition switch to neutral safety switch to the solenoid on the starter might be bad. Look for power there at solenoid or at neutral safety switch when it doesn't want to crank over.

93" k1500 suburban- ignition key

I just saw your newer post..or the original post with more information available.

Your K1500 has the ignition switch positioned on the steering column. The switch is control via a linkage rod that is actuated from the key cylinder.(which may have failed.) But I suspect your problems may be in the switch itself.

See the procedure here at Just Answer Chevy to remove and install a new switch:
Fix Your Chevy With Your Own Hand

PS: After removing the actuator rod see if the lock cylinder rotates freely...if it does the switch is the source of your problem.

1988 chevy celebrity No fuel to the carberator.

without starting the engine position the key to the on position.
you can hear the fuel pump operationing for 4 to 6 seconds upon having the key on.
if not heard running check the fuel pump fuse, the fuel pump relay, and the engines oil pressure switch.
they all work the pump you see
the engine oil pressure switch runs the pump untill the engine reaches normal pressure
once the pressure is reached to the normal range the computer shuts that circuit off and turns the fuel pump relay on
