Need help with fixing power window

run the fault codes to check for further faults.

I had the same problem with a BMW that I had. On mine the actual wire broke. It has to be the wire or the clips. If you can't get to the dealer may have to be contacted. They have special tools to do this type of fix. This is done on purpose by the manufacturer so that you have to go to them for repairs. Sorry.

There is a plastic stay clip that attaches to that hole that guides the window in the track

probly need to take the door apart and see whats keeping it from rolling up. If the motor went bad theres your problem but if a clip or something broke loose and fell it may have wedged itself in the lifting mechanism

the cable on your window motor broke most likley or could be the clips on the window itself the motor assembly is about 150.00 if u are nit mechanically inclined or dont have the right tools take it to a body shop their rates are cheaper than a mechanic

There really is no cable. The power window runs on tracks inside the door, which is attached to a motor which is also inside the door. It's very tough to get to to fix it, lots of screws and you would need to take the door panel off. It's not something I even try to fix myself, and I consider myself very mechanically inclined. I have replaced a window motor once, and took a large chunk of meat and skin out of my finger in the process. Hope it helps. If you want to try fixing it yourself just know, it's VERY complicated.

either window in my 1996 pontiac grand am will roll up or down properly the fromt of the window seems to drop. there is no hole for a window clip to hold the window on track. do you have any suggestions? please help.

Their is no regulator problem here. The motor is fine.

What broke was a piece of plastic the locks the cable on the track.

Pretty much screwed. VW or an auto glass company wont help.

I have replaced all of my Passats window mechanisms.
I have even remade the piece that broke and saved my self $100.

All in all the panel is removed, THen the inner plates 12 bolts are removed. The window has to be taken out....

It is probably just off of the track. It could be worse. take the door apart and put the window back in the guide (track). Hope this helps.
