88 Isuzu truck (4 cyl) has terrible idle/black exhaust

88 Isuzu truck (4 cyl) has terrible idle and black smoke out of exhaust, but runs marginally better when at full speed. Idle speed has been adjusted so it will idle and not cut out, but truck shakes and sputters while idling. Last week truck started running wide open when idling like trash or clog in carburetor, so checked that, and now it idles terrible. Ideas?

I have a 30ltr TDI quattro that smokes when it idles for than a few minutes

This car doesn't have coils and wires, it's gasoil. The most likely reason is the piezo injectors are worn. The best way to test is with VCDS
After an overnight stationary period drive the vehicle with cold engine between 1200 - 1600 rpm till the complaint occurs. Constantly read the measured value block 13 and 14 for the smooth running control in the engine control unit. The values of one or several cylinders should noticeably move to positive.

modified injectors A8: with 3.0l, 4.2l TDI from: WAUZZZ4E*7N016685
Replace the injector with the highest deviation and all injectors produced between 1.3.2006 and 30.4.2006.
Example of production date: 060304 stands for 4.3.2006
vcds go to address 01 measured values below

1991 isuzu trooper 4 cyl. runs terrible when cold.does it have a cold sensor & where is it on the engine?

If you have a 2.6 4ZE1 engine the coolant temp. sensor is located under the intake manifold at the runner for #1 cylinder. It maybe hard to access. Try going throught the right side wheel opening over the tire it is a tight fit.

My 1995 olds royal 88 has blue smoke coming from engine area

Blue smoke is oil and if it's coming from your engine compartment most likely means the gasket on your valve cover either needs to be replaced or it could even be as simple and needing to tighten the valve cover bolts a bit. Oil is leaking from the valve covers and working it's way to your hot exhaust manifold and that is where the smoking is most likely coming from.

1986 C Lebaron turbo 4 cyl. black smoke when

Black smoke is excessive burnt fuel. White is excessive unburnt fuel. Have your turbo checked and the air filter. Good Luck

I had the turbo changed and now it runs terrible

your exploding turbo may have taken out more than your exhaust. have someone check for additional damage to other systems, including the computer. it may need reset for the new turbo.

Cavalier blowing out black smoke car idles fairly well considerin

Black smoke is usually unburned fuel. P0171 reads bank 1 system too lean. There isn't one answer. You need to dig further and inspect your cars fuel system, from the pump to the injectors. Because of the mileage you may want to start off with a compression test just to see where you stand with the motor. write back if you have any other questions.
