1984 Toyota PU 4WD 22R Engine Makes Squealing noise at PS pump

I have put 2 power steering pumps on, new top pressure hose, steering box, changed the fluid, and it still makes the squealing noise. What else could I do. Could I have air in the line, or the wrong type of fluid. Maybe another pump? You can feel the vibration in the pressure hose. Right now I am just letting it squeal. Don't know anything else to do. Do you have any suggestions.

You have to bleed the power steering system. you have someone turn the wheels to the left while you watch the power steering fluid level adding as needed. than repeat turning the wheels to the right. and repeat until the noise seems to get quieter and you don't have to ad any more fluid.

hope this helped

Can't get rid of Power Steering noise on my 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette

You haven't described the noise or whether the noise increases when the pump is under load, or perhaps that is the only time it makes a noise?

As you undoubtedly know some noise is natural when a fluid is being forced through hoses and orifices under great pressure and some systems are noisier than others, especially when the steering is on full lock and all the surplus pressure is diverted through the relief valve.

Perhaps there is an inherent fault that is causing the fluid to become aerated or perhaps it is something more basic and the drive pulley alignment is off.
Perhaps it is a matter of poor routing of hoses and pipes transmitting normal noise into the body and amplifying it.

I believe there are additives available that can help lessen some of the noises of complaining oil.

PUMP IS 3RD ONE NEW STILL MAKES WINDING NOISE FROM ps pump

The whining noise is typically caused by air in the system.

1) Raise the front of the vehicle off the ground. It will be easier to bleed air from the system.

2) Remove the reservoir cap, with the engine off, turn steering wheel completely to the left all the way to stop and then completely to the right all the way to stop. Repeat this several times to rid the system of all the air. Return the wheel to center.

3) Leave the cap off the reservoir and let set for an hour or more if possible. The air in the reservoir will rise to the top. Check the fluid level and fill as necessary.

Good luck, let me know.

I have a squealing noise when the truck is running Worse when you turn the wheels. We just replaced the Power steering pump...Please Help

Suggest it may be power steering fluid, has made it's way on the power steering belt, causing belt slippage, and perhaps glazing the power steering belt. Even if a new one was put on. If so, the belt may need to be changed, also the pulleys need to be cleaned. Make sure those pulleys aren't glazed, by the belt slipping over them.

It could also be that the belt isn't tight enough, and/or worn out.
Make sure the hoses, going from the power steering pump to the steering box, are not leaking, at the back of the pump housing.

1997 chevy lumina-very hard to turn to left

Most of the time the pump will make a whining noise when used. this is a warning for a bad malfunctioning pump. if there is no noise during a hard turn, it will most likely be an issue with the steering assembly. heres a step by step guide on checking the pump.

Step1 Check the fluid levels of your vehicle first. Add power steering fluid if necessary before you proceed any further. Step2 Connect the power steering pump and hose to the pressure gauge and shutoff valve. Fit the hose to the power steering pump correctly. Make sure the shutoff valve is open before test the power steering pump. Step3 Idle the engine while turning the steering wheel all the way to the right and all the way to the left to release any air from the power steering pump. Step4 Close the shutoff valve to check system pressure for about 5 seconds. If the shutoff valve is closed longer than 5 seconds, your power steering pump can overheat and this can cause damage to the pump itself. Step5 Compare the pressure reading against the manufacturer's specifications. If the pressure is within limits, your power steering pump is working correctly and you're ready to roll. Step6 Troubleshoot if the pressure reading is not the same as the manufacturers specifications. Consult the manual for your vehicle or for your power steering pump (if you just installed a new one) to determine the source of any further problems.

1986 Toyota 4X4 22r Engine

Hello;
It sounds as if you have a couple of possible problems. First could be the fuel pump. If yoou disconnect the fuel line, put the line in a jar and crank the engine over, you should get a pint in 15 seconds or so. Also check the pressure, should have around 5 psi. Secondly, you may have a vacuum hose cracked, broken, or leaking. Check your hoses and also the carbureator for leaks.
Hope this helps;
Thanks;
