2004 Infinity QX56 - when driving with the driver seat in various seat distances from the pedals, the driver seat clunks and the left side of the seat travels feels like it gives out and surges forward about an inch. It seems related to a moving right-hand turn (body in the seat pressed to the left side?) but is not re-creatable at-will. The dealership is having trouble locating a missing tooth in a gear/track/motor and I don't know how the seat slide is configured to "help" them.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately you need a new seat track assembly. I'm an infiniti tech and have replaced MANY of these tracks.

There are plastic gears connecting the track to the seat assembly. Whne one of these strip the seat will only work or move to one side. Infiniti does not sell a simple fix. You are looking at buying an entire seat assembly complete with the module for all the electronics. It will be at a cost of around $950 - $1000. Once that is in, Infiniti must program the seat to the brain of the car, only then can you reset your memory settings.

Try your parts store for this one. They have a wide range of different brake pads for your vehicle with prices going up for the better ones.
I use Wagner on my 1997 Cadillac deville that do not require shims as they are built in.
These are fool proof pads.
Good luck to you...

I had this problem on my G35/04 and it was the nylon/plastic gear that engages the metal worm drive of the motor (the metal drive grooves the softer nylon gear). Dealers will not sell the gear they wanted to replace the whole seat assembly for big bucks. I searched for gears on google and found a shop that rebuilds speedometers for classic cars (Odometer Gears-1-757-593-3478). I sent them a good gear so they could replicate and it worked. I think it was $50.00, they should still have the mold. Good luck.
