SOURCE: How do you bleed the clutch in a 1991 Jeep Wrangler?

If replacing just the fluid, you should gravity bleed it by opening the valve at the side of the transmission where the line goes in to connect with the slave cylinder. Be sure to stand by and keep the tiny reservoir from going empty during bleeding, or you just make things worse. Assume you replaced parts. Is this right or wrong?

Or are you just trying to restore performance in a poorly operating system? Would help TONS to know these details, and how much you know about bleeding, etc. If you are trying to bleed a new slave cylinder, it can take 600 to 1800 pumps of the clutch pedal sometimes to clear it out manually. If you want instructions on how to bleed in with vacuum assistance, please post request comment to that effect.

Where is the clutch fluid resivour for my 92 Merc Capri 5 speed? Thank you.

I do not know your car but manual shifts I have had has a rod from the clutch peddle to the clutch master cylinder. The clutch master cylinder should have a hose or line to the reservoir. Several cars I had, had a hose form clutch Master cylinder to brake reservoir because the clutch master cylinder got fluid from brake reservoir. You might check and see if you have a hose on brake reservoir, it may go to the clutch master cylinder. The cars I had, the hose is hooked up above the bottom of the reservoir because if you have a leak in clutch you do not want to run out of fluid for the brakes. The hose on the brake reservoir should not be at the bottom of the reservoir but on the side somewhere, if it is like the cars and trucks I have had.
I have a 1992 mercury capri non turbo manual transmission and I have not used it for about a year. I had to jump stat it (justanswer.com).

If you clutch fluid got low and air got in the clutch sys you will need to bleed it, similar to bleeding brakes.

How do i bleed the clutch on a 2009 nissan versa

Well, you size the wrench needed for the bleed valve on the slave cylinder, mounted on the transmission housing 8 or 10 mm in most cases. Make sure the clutch reservoir is full, and kept full. Then you'll need a trusted assistant to work the pedal-one who will understand the reasoning and procedure behind bleeding a hydraulic system of air trapped inside the lines-it hinders hydraulic pressure on the clutch fork to make the clutch work at all. I say trusted because you dont wanna make it an unpleasant experience (I've participated in quite enough of those videos!) Patiently explain that the clutch pedal should be depressed slowly and steadily to the floor after you have opened the bleed valve and kept depressed to the floor until you have closed the valve. So just as the pedal starts traveling down, open the bleed valve, fluid is forced down through the line and out the open valve. Best if you close it just before the pedal reaches the floor-as soon as pressure is let off, air has a chance to re-enter through the open valve, so close it quick. A couple of times should do it-when you have a steady stream of fluid, no more air, and you know the line is bled of any possibility of air, then finish tighten the bleed valve, not too tight. Check the reservoir again, and take your trusted associate to dinner.

How do you bleed the hydraulic clutch on 1984 944

924 has cable operated clutch. When the cable on mine broke pedal went straight to the floor, hydraulic usually much slower to get to floor. Cable is an easy replacement. bleeding hydraulic usually done from nipple on slave cylinder (near release arm on clutch housing.

Cavalier 5 speed shifter or cable wont work

First check the clutch master cylinder to see if it's low on fluid, if it is, use dot 3 brake fluid to fill it, (trust me it's brake fluid, I"ve been working on cars for 51 years.) It's mounted on the firewall right at the clutch.
Check for leaks from the master cylinder to the slave valve ( which you have to get under the car to do so). If the master cylinder was empty, you'll need to bleed the system after filling it. On the valve there is a bleeder screw, loosen it, catch the fluid in a jar till there is no more air bubbles, tighten screw up.
If you still have the same problem, then there is either a slave valve problem,or clutch and/or pressure plate problem. It's cheaper to change the slave valve first, then take it from there providing the valve is external and not internal.

I have a 1985 gmc sierra i am bleeding the clutch can you please give advice how to do this PLEASE

Not difficult to do, just make sure you have plenty of extra fluid keeping the reservoir full. Bleeding will need an assistance. There's a bleeding valve on the slave cylinder unit it self. The unit does wear out over times rebuild or replace may be necessary due to loss of clutch slave cyclinder pressure. Have your assistance pump the clutch paddle 4-5 times and hold it to the floor while you turn the bleed valve quickly open and shut it off. do this 3-4 times and that should do the trick. Keep in mind, do not let your assistance release the clutch paddle up while you bleeding the valves, keep it to the floor until the bleeding is done and the valve is close. Hope that help, good luck.
