DOUBLE CHECK that you have connected the battery the right way and haven't put the positive on the negative. This is sometimes a warning that you have the terminals the wrong way round. If the battery is fitted correctly check the fuses.
CHECK THE MARKINGS ON THE BATTERY + & - ARE GOING TO THE CORRECT TERMINALS

Hi I had the same problem with my 06 Kalos and it failed the MOT because of the light staying on I tried all sugestions in different forums including new abs rings new brakes etc what worked for me was swithing the ignition key on and off at least six times turning the key alll the way back and then starting the engine the light did not go initially but the next day but this was enough to pass the MOT it came back on after going over potholes but i done it again and it went off and stayed off.
If the Airbag light is on, it indicates that a electronic fault is stored in the memory for the airbag. You will need to have a diagnostic check done to pinpoint what the fault is, have it sorted out and only then can the fault be cleared so the light will go off. The ABS light also indicates a fault on the electronic side of the braking system. If the light comes on as you start the vehicle this indicates that there is an open circuit in the wiring or that the ABS control unit itself is faulty. If the light only comes on once the vehicle is in motion, this indicates that a wheel speed sender is incorrectly fitted or dirty and not sensing the ABS Rotor on one of the wheels. If a CV joint has been replaced, the joint may not have an ABS ring fitted on it.[front] At the rear the ABS pick up is fitted on the inside of the brake discs and must be fitted to the new disc when replacing discs.
Most times, warning lights, engine lights ect, can be reset by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or so, but you will also loose any saved radio stations, times, and anything else like that.
