The electrical sliding door on the passengers side does not work. It goes through all the motions of an operating door but it does not open. I have tried the "reset mode" listed in the Haynes manual by removing the radio fuse and waiting 30 seconds. When I do this, the door grunts like wants to open but only grunts for a second or two and then stops. I tried to open it manually from the outside but even that does not work. I operate the door lock manually to lock and then unlock but the same results. Please help

Most likely is a fuse. There is a fuse box at the end of the right side of the dash. Open front passenger door and there is a cover that says fuses on the end of dash. There is also a fuse box located under the hood at the right front of engine compartment. It should have a cover with a round knob in the middle of it .Unscrew the knob to remove cover.

Start with the basics. Check the fuses (all of them) with a test light and be sure you have power to each and that they are good. Then be sure that the power lock relay is good by swapping it with another relay in the fuse block. If the fuses are good and the relay is swapped and the locks still aren't functioning, you may have an issue with the BCM. The BCM can be programmed to change the behavior, but if the car has had water damage, or other stress to the BCM (voltage, heat, etc.), it can sometimes damage the BCM and you will need to replace it and reprogram it at a GM dealership.
SOURCE: need to replace the power window motor on a chevy
To replace the power window motor:
1. Remove inside door panel, and locate the motor.
2 Unplug the motor, drill out the rivets that hold it in, then you can remove it.
3. the new motor may come with fasteners to install it, otherwise use 1/4 - 20 nuts and bolts to attach the new motor.
Testimonial: "Thanks Guru. When I saw those rivets, I thought it wouldn't be possible. Thanks brother."

It could be the power lock motor. You could have a short or bad wiring harness. Might just be a fuse that connects to both. But since you said it's only the driver side. When the power lock motor is bad it can trigger your alarm because they're wired together.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
