1999 Kia Sportage O2 sensor replaced but still reading error.

I am trying to get my Kia Sportage smogged. The error that popped up was the 2 O2 sensors. I had both replaced according to the code, the exhaust checked for leaks, and ran Sea Foam through the fuel system along with a higher octane fuel. And yet the check engine light keeps coming up the same. Any Ideas?

O2 or HO2S
that is the question
O2 sensors are after the cat converter/s where as HO2S sensors are in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter/s and report exhaust gas composition to the ECM so that the air /fuel mixture can be adjusted
May be you replace the wrong sensors

SOURCE: check gngine light

Ok I think you meant code P0171, this means the fuel trim is always lean, you need to check for a engine vacum leak, maybe a cut or damaged PCV hose or any other hose that is in the vaccum system, I have read other Kia owners (Kia Forums, you should join one) reports of this same code, most found it not to be the O2 sensor but a vacuum leak.

SOURCE: 2002 Kia Sportage will not start.

p0560 is system voltage problem. open or short between the battery positive and the ecm.CHECK ALL FUSES. dosnt matter what they are labeled under dash and under hood replace any that are bad and retry to start. no start then check voltage to ecm grounds to. i dont have a wireing diagram to give you but for a small fee or free the dealer can make you a copy.make sure all the wires that go to battery terminals are not corroded and are making good contact [verified with volt meter]. if after all checks ok then replace ecm. as a side note i havent had to change one ever.

Testimonial: "Thank you for the help. We will continue to check all fuses and wires."

How do we install the 02 sensors in the 1999 kia sportage?

when you find the O2 sensor that you are replacing disconnect the electrical plug then using a 7/8" wrench placed around the sensor base turn the sensor counter clockwise looking at it from the top of the sensor. sometimes you have to heat the exhaust pipe around the sensor were it threads in this will help loosen the sensor. keep in mind that sometimes the threads are pulled out/stripped and you will have to run a cleaning tap to clean the threads and you install the sensor in the same place.

My kia sportage 2001 has a warning light that in the manual states could be engine emissions, what could the problem be?

You may have a faulty O2 sensor. Many auto parts stores will read your cars computer error codes for free, as a courtesy, with a hand-held scanner if you ask them. This would be your first step in determining the cause for the "Check Engine" light.
If it is an O2 sensor, sensor 1(upstream sensor) can be accessed from under the hood on the drivers side, just after the exhaust manifold, and before the catalytic converter. Sensor 2(downstream sensor) is after the converter, and can be seen from this location, it can be accessed from under the car. I highly recommend purchasing the socket made for sensor removal.(About $10.00) Spray with a bolt loosen-er, and make sure to let the car cool down completely before attempting removal!
The sensors are a little over $100.00 each at a parts store, but if you look around the internet you can find them for less than half that price.

Our 1999 Kia Sportage will stall when you are coming to a stop.

Try replacing the sensor at the outake manifold. it looks like an O2 sensor. It detects gases that are coming out of the catalytic converter. it is sometimes mounted on the pipe or the back side of the catalytic.
