Key wont unlocl door from outside unless key originally locked the door on a 1999 intrepid

Thanks for the thought Motor, but it isnt an issue of something sticking or tumblers hanging up. Called Dodge today, come to find out, it is actually part of the theft deterent system... this happens when you don't have the keyless entry clicker... who would have thought??? :-P

Take nozzle of WD-40, or similar penetrating spray & stick in key slot as deep as you can & spray inside, see if that helps.

Duh ! I own a 98' intrepid without it, and thought never entered my mind. Guess I was a little brain dead, glad you got it sorted out.

lock is not flipping over fully, until it does the key wont come out as you say unless you unlock it, need to find why it is not fully engaging....

That sounds like a seized linkage issue. Open door panel and disconnect linkage from the actuator. If the actuator works, it's the linkage

The doors will not lock or unlock from the door but will from the remote?

The title suggest the door won't unlock unless the remote is used but during the summer it was the inverse. If while inside the car the doors will not lock or unlock from the door but will from the remote then you have a faulty switch.If while outside the car the key turns while in the lock but the door won't lock or unlock then the linkage at the end of the lock is faulty. You'll need to remove the door inside plate to check this.

I have a 1999 ford expedition that wont start, when i go to crank it the fan runs but the vehicle will not turn over, it has light on the interior until the key is in the run posistion then the turn off,...

anit theft is activated. It should deactivate if you close all doors and hood and open with key or fob from outside of truck.

You must have opened a door by reaching inside and opening the door when it was locked. Once locked, it msut be unlocked with key or fob so the ouside lock sensor will tell the module it was unlocked porperly. Or, you have a bad door lock sensor switch.

Try "cycling the key in the passenger door lock. Turn it all the way to the right and all the way to the left.

The driver side door lock wont go all the way up.

The outside door handle spring is broke ,or the latch spring is broke. The only way to tell is remove the door panel and inspect the rod from the handle to latch. Look for broken spring on handle. I have installed an external spring from the handle rod to latch to keep the rod in the full up position.
