I have an interesting problem with my 01 Passat. The turn signals are not working, however the hazards are working. Could this be the hazard relay? The high beam on the right side is not working, and today the daytime running light went out too on the right side. The brake lights on the right side was blown, I replaced and its working fine when you hit the breaks, but not on normally (running w/lights on). So it looks like the whole right side lights/electrical is having a problem... The brights work though... I am at a loss and would like to correct this problem on my own.. Oh, and the fuses are all good... Any advice??? -Mandy

I believe the hazards and turn signals are on two different fuses. As far as the other problem, i would be checking the headlight switch and or dimmer switch.

The turn signals use one flasher and emergency uses another one. You can exchange the two (usually) for a quick check. The bad one will move to the other system when swapped, emergency flashers now don't work but the turn signals do. If this is the case go get a new flasher and replace it.

Turn signal doesn't come on until I hit my hazard light on & off

it could be duel filament bulb that is blown and shorting inside the bulb to the other circuit, you may need to remove all indicator and hazard bulbs and check. I would also try a new flasher can

Where is the turn signal relay, hazard relay, and flasher for a 2003 Ford F150? My turn signals do not work (inside or outside), but 3 out of 4 outside lights work when the hazards are on, but with only 1...

It is not the flasher if the hazards work, it is 1 flasher for both turn signals and the hazard lamps. It is in a relay block ( along with the blower motor relay ) under the dash, about in line with the steering wheel column ).

Try tilting the steering wheel all the way up, and test again.

The other quick test is to cycle the hazard switch a few times, to see if it cleans the contacts for the turn signal on the MFS,

Headlights and turn signals stopped working

First off, do you have a knob on the dash for the headlights, or do you have a lever on the column that turns them on? If you have the lever on the column, and you can turn on the highbeams by pulling back on the turn signal stalk, and hitting the hazard button turns the flashers on, then chances are the stalk is bad (it's called the combination switch and it's a common failure on the B5 chassis cars (the Passat and Audi A4)).

Try that out - hit the hazard button and see if the hazards work. Pull back on the stalk and see if the high beams come on (they should - toggling like that uses a circuit that is separate from the usual headlight circuits).

Post back up with the results of these checks:

Headlight switch on column or dash?
Highbeams turn on when turn signal stalk is pulled back?
Hazard button activates hazard lights?

Let me know what you find out and I'll be able to tell you more definitely.

Hazard Lights working. Indicators will not operate/flash

The Hazard and turn signals share the same relay module located in the dashboard behind the hazard switch. Remove the trim by prying from the sides (Either side of the Cup holder drawer and Card drawer). Pry the hazard switch assembly out from the dashboard. The relay is part of the hazard switch assembly.

Unclip the wiring terminal from the relay. replace with appropriate relay. Part costs under $50.00 delivered from Import Parts Specialists.
