You need to replace the ignition switch that is located inside the steering column and the ignition coil, if that is not enough also replace ignition cylinder.

Hello, It sounds like you may have a positive or ground cable that is not allowing enough fire. They may be coroded on the inside. to make sure its not the ground take a pair of jumper cable one end to battery ground the other end to the motor. Then see if it will start. Also take a socket and get on the crankshaft pulley and make sure you can turn it, that the engine is not locked up.Please rate my answer thank you.

Sounds like you need more power. Act as if you were jump starting it with another car. Has the car gone through a engine replacement or anything lately? If you try jumpstarting it, it should work. When it clicks, do the interior lights flash? If so, then jump start it for sure

I have a 1987 Suzuki Samurai the starter take several tries to get it to engage when cold. Replaced Starter and Battery.

The only other part of the system would be the flywheel. I suggest getting under the vehicle with a light and give the teeth a good looking over. Rotate the engine by hand to look around the whole perimeter. If the flywheel looks good, make sure the starter has the correct clearance. It might need shimmed out slightly. If it isn't a mechanical issue, look for corrosion on the cable ends or inside of the sheathing.

I have an 88 Suzuki samurai, I try to start it n the old start just clicked, so I bought a new starter and put on it and it does the same thing, like it can't turn the flywheel. But if I pull the starter...

Put a wrench on the front of the engine and see if it will turn, almost sounds like you threw a rod or the timing belt broke. Either one is not good news

It won't start: new battery, have lights, it just clicks when you turn the ignition switch

you mean it wont crank, it must crank to start.
1: bad starter system
2: weak battery even a new battery can be weak.
if you dont charge it first.
or if it starts ok then wont later, that means cars charge system failure.

can you jump start engine? with jumper cables.
that be a big clue there, proving starter works but battery was weak.
if the battery is fully charged.
you can hot wire the starter solenoid, (tiny terminal)
if car cranks now, the key start wire is failing.
A/T or M/T tranny? both use different path here....??????

if you cant hot wire it, then that means the stater is bad
the cables bad or the battery is not really connected.
or possible the engine is seized, can you hand turn over the engine at the front crank bolt (CW , facing rear, in neutral)
if not motor is seized.
some times even the starter and rig gear can be seized.
the starter can be bench tested. too.

Won't start not even click

I am pretty sure you have a bad solenoid on your starter. Sometimes if you tap on them while someone holds the key in start they will make contact and it will start. Best solution is replace solenoid. You can check it by having someone hold the key in start and measure the voltage from the small wire to ground, if it is bad you will have voltage but it will not even click. Hope that helps you.

1991 suzuki samurai want start

Check ECM (engine computer) located under glove box. Injector circuit output probably dead. Replace ECM. Go to Searchparts.com for best price.
