2nd row bench to bucket seats conversion

How difficult would this conversion be? Are special brackets needed? Welding? Looking to see if this is a cost effective, DIY alternative to trading the vehicle in for one that comes with stock captains chairs in the 2nd row.

You can buy a 2008 Tahoe with bucket seats but I'm afraid I cannot find any information about switching out the seats. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why are my 2nd row 60/40 seats stuck upright and won't fold down?

There is a special spring release under rear seats, under bottom of seat,at floor level, this releases the seat and allows it to fold ahead. often rusts and needs to be greased.Suggest white spray grease!!

Can i put captains chairs in 2nd row of 1998 grand caravan that came with bench seat

You most certainly can!!!!

I did away with my 2nd row bench a long time ago.

The wreaking yard is the best place to find replacements, I even got a pair that matched. :)

I want 3rd row seats.

As a Auto body tech. Yes it is possible. It will take alot of work. You have a few ways to do this but it will take alot of modification. Find a third row seat and take it to a welding shop or apolestry shop and have a bracket built to bolt the seat down to the floor. Then take it to a body shop and have them drill the floor and install the seat. Or if you wish to tackle this on your own Good luck.

I want to make my 1999 Mercury Villager Sport into a cargo loader, with just the front seats kept and the rest of the back empty. How do I remove the other 3 seats? So far, I can't get any of them to budge...

the middle seats come out easily. There are 2 handles you have to lift up on each of the bucket seats, they are in the front of the seat down by the seat tracks. After you lift them, tilt the seat upward in the front and rotate them backward. Then lift out of the hooks. Each seat is held down by 4 hoks.

The 3rd row seat is not designed to come out xcept by a technician. It does slide forward all the way up to the front seat. It has a sliding seat track.
First, lift the T handle under the seat cushion on the left front side of the seat. This will allow you to lift the seat bottom up all the way to lcok in the full up position.
Then, lift the lever on the same side of the seat and slide the seat forward. It will stop in 4 places.
Rear -Rear
6 inches forward of that.
another two ft to the second row seating position
full frward against the front seats.

Pleae rate as fixya if this helps.

I am interested in buying a new 2008 Chevy Suburban 1500, 1FL, LS - this is a fleet vehicle. It has all the features I desire except it does not have a third row seat. I need a third row bench seat that...

My experience with this in the past was yes, but it had to be done by factory authorized, installer, obviously for insurance liability issues that may arise. If you check,(don't have to buy) for price and availability from GM dealer, they will probably advise you of any such requirements, and if they don't say anything, you ask them. I know with my experience, with Chrysler, and basically same idea, I could pay for the seat, but it would be shipped to installer, to gaurantee done by them. That way everybody's rear was covered.

2004 toyota highlander -

Most dealers will not perform this service, as they become the "final stage manufacturer", and what that means is THEY would be responsible for any claims (liability) that may arise from an accident. Toyota does NOT recommend adding seats, nor do they recommend changing seat types (buckets vs bench). Note that the vehicle is designed with the specific seating positions in mind. To add a 3rd row seat, you would also have to install the proper seatbelts, and secure the 3rd row seats in a fashion that meets NHTSA specifications.
In short, and I apologize for this, please refrain from doing it.

I don't think the seat can be split! I am looking for '01 -02 LT or SLT center row buckets, if they will fit the floor brackets - my dealer cannot determine if the attachment is workable! (Someone, please help) These seats recline (not fold flat) and would allow plywood to be carried vertically between the seats! I have already installed floor brackets and belts for a '4th row' in my 8 passenger to carry plywood on top of the seats, but it is 'mickey mouse'.
