2003 matrix starter relay location

2003 matrix won't start, lights come on but no clicking noise or anything. Replaced the battery and still nothing, looking for the starter relay but don't know where it is since nothing is labeled, any ideas would be appreciated.

The starter relay is located in the instrument panel junction block.

a couple things you can check quickly.

  1. check for power at the AM2 fuse in the instrument panel junction block. If there is power than its safe to assume the relay is getting power. if there is no power ceck the main 30 amp fuse in the under hood junction block (you owners manual will have this info as well. look for fuses in the index. You can look at an online PDF version on the toyota website)
  2. Make sure the security light is not illuminated. If the security system is active it will not allow the starter to engage.
  3. Check for power on the small wire at the starter with the key in the crank position. If there is power than the starter is bad. If there is no power let me know if you have an automatic or manual transmission and ill see if i can get you more info.

yes theres is, try locking and unlocking the pass/side door with the key. you can check for power at the starter at the small wire if theres power at that wire when the key is held in the crank position then you have a bad starter try taping on starter while key is held in start if its starts when tapping then starter is bad, heres a diagram to show you were to tap and where to check for power, hope this helps.4a6e88f.jpg8d713e8.jpg

sounds to me that you have an igniton problem not a starter problem and or if you have or had an alarm system could be cause if u do give me feedback and i will explain but seems that your starter is fine from what u say but if you think in terms of the elemts to start a vehicle batery gives pwoer to ignition which sends to starter which gives spark etc i would check you ignition system something is causeing a short and not alowing starter to function

My car runs fine for days then i'll park somewhere and go to turn it back on and it won't start at all. It won't turn over or anything.

CHECK BATTERY CONNECTIONS, STARTER CONNECTIONS, WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN IT DOESN'T START, TO GET IT GOING AGAIN, DO YOU GET A JUMP START IF SO CHECK CONNECTIONS.

My 2003 Saab 9-5 Aero 4-cyl Turbo Won't start. However, I have power in car, lights windows and radio works. But it won't turn-over. It could be Starter or Starter Relay. I can't find out

Ok, those systems might still work because the not require as much energy as the starter. Check the Battery Voltage with a good Voltmeter. If below 12, there might be your problem!

2003 buick century won't start -replaced battery, no clicking noise

Check for power on the large wire at the starter. There should be power all the time. Check for power on the small wi at the starter. There should be power with the key in the crank position. If both of the above are true than the starter is likely bad.

2004 matrix will not start, turn key and will do nothing and i took the starter to be checked at the local Auto zone and it checked out fine

Does the lights go dim when you try to start the car?? If not then there is a starter relay in the fuse panel under the hood, try replacing it.The inside of the cover on the fuse box shows where the relay is located. If the lights go dim, then it's your battery is too low. It should be no less that 12.5 vdc.

My car will not start my lights, radio work its not the battery. I recently replaced the starter, the altenator, battery, fuel pump catalyic converter. when i turn the key there is no noise it won't...

Sounds to me like the starter or starter relay, OR did you check all the fuses? When the starter doesn't click or turn over the engine it is likely a problem with it or the power supply to it. Start with the easy thing. check the fuses, then the relay.
The P0300 is usually caused by something other than the spark plugs or coils. A fuel/oxygen sensor can cause this code. I would say that doesn't have anything to do with not starting.
Good luck.

The security system does not disable the starter, it only disables fuel to the engine. In the fuse block under the hood, locate the STARTER relay. Place your hand on this relay and see if it clicks while someone else turns the key to start...if the relay is ok then the starter itself is faulty. Good luck, i hope this helps.
