2000 ford expedition passenger window off track

The window came off the clips that hold it to the regulator. I'm trying to put it back like it was. Where should the clips be positioned to reattached to the window. The clips can be moved forward and backwards on its track. I want to get it right before gluing it. Thanks for the help.

Hi,

Initially, try to determine which fuse goes to the power window. Check and replace if necessary.

In brief for a temporary remedy just to have the window closed: remove the triangular cover at the top front of the door behind the mirror, there should be a screw there; remove the trim around the door handle another screw, remove the cover of the courtesy light at the bottom of the door, there is another screw behind that; soon as all the screws are out, lift/push up on the door panel and pull off. This would grant you access to the mechanism controlling the window. You can try closing by manually turning the motor.

Thereafter, pls determine if it is the motor or the switch(es) has failed. Replacements are available here.

Incidentally, here is a nice tutorial on repairs of power windows in general.

you need to use a plastic pry bar to remove the door panel. Also move the speaker grill is available.

U will need to replace the power seat transmission, the gears are most likely stripped out, not uncommon, this part is $800 so i would suggest u try to locate a used one.

There are 2 screws just above the door handle you need to remove. Remove the plastic trim around door handle. Then starting at bottom of door panel pull out to disengage the push pin clips and work your way up both sides of panel. Then lift up on door panel to disengage the weatherstip on top of panel.

Try tapping the power seat frame with a hammer to unbind the motor .

My passenger side window came out of regulator there's some kind of silicone or glue in the clips what is it?

Go to NAPA and ask for The Right Stuff, that's actually the name of it. It's made by Permatex and you can use that to re-glue the window back into the clips. Once it sets it doesn't move! Let me know if this helps and good luck.

On the passenger window, we put it down, put it wouldn't come back up.

First I need to know if it sounds like it's trying to move around when you try to put the window up and down. I've only seen 2 window regulators actually fail on an expedition. The most common problem is that Ford actually glues part of the window regulator to the window. The only way Ford will tell you to fix it is to buy a new glass window and it will have the pieces already glued in place. I have found 1 product at my local auto supply store called Amazing Goop or Automotive Goop and that has held every one I've attempted to fix. I clean the slot that the window rides in really well with a knife and then rubbing alcohol then put alot of Goop in there and use the window regulator to press it in when it runs all the way up. It needs about 2 days of not using it to cure.

You won't be putting it back on it's track. You will be replacing a broken regulator cable most likely.

You remove any screws you find around the arm rest and door handle,then carefully pry the trim away from the door structure.

You will break a few christmas tree fastners along the way. You get them at an auto paint and body supply house
