Had same problem on 1997 Sable wagon - turn signals and flasher both quit. Manual says the hazard flasher switch/button should make a clicking noise when depressed. Followed advice on this site and worked hazard flasher button - no luck. Checked fuse. Messed with hazard button again, and suddenly got a click and signals and flashers were again operational. Rather than mash the button, I pushed it sideways toward the dash and that made conact. If you can't get the button to work, you have to replace the multifunction switch (the turn signal stalk). The hazard button is part of this switch, i.e. it's all one unit.. On line prices vary from about $40 to $110. Local part stores have for $50 to $60. You have to remove the key lock mechanism, the steering column cover, and the ignition switch to remove the multifunction switch.

Turn signals and emer flashers dont work, fuses are good and test light shows power at fuses

Replace the elctronic flasher relay, it runs both turn and emergency flashers in one relay. The flasher/turn signal is screwed into the metal support above the fuse panel, you must take the bottom of the dash off and remove the plastic cover. this is for a sable that has light out detection. Look under your dash for a blue box screwed into the right side of the dash panel. This of course is done, with you laying on your back, and your feet in the back seat. It's a blue box, about the size of half a twinkie (cream filled, golden sponge cake). Remove the plug that holds it in, unscrew the screw that holds it to the frame, and go to Autozone or other parts store, to get a new relay. You will have to reuse the metal piece that holds the relay to the dash panel, so be sure and save that before you throw the old part away. Installation is the reverse. Read more

1997 Chevy Blazer four way flashers working but no left or right turn signals work, help!

find your owners manual, use it to find your fuse panel, read the legend and locate the turn signal flasher and the emergency flasher, exchange them as they are identical. make a mental note to drop by a car parts store and pick up a replacement some day. when you get the replacement, put it in the signal flasher socket and put the old one back into the emergency flasher socket.

Turn signals will not work correctly. Click a few times, & then quit working, lots of out of rhythm "clicking", & then stop working. Emergency flashers work with no problem

The turn signals and the emergency lights work on two separate flashers, it sounds like the signal flasher is weak and should be replaced.

Looking for the flasher location on a 1997 Mecury Sable

The hazard flasher switch is the flasher unit. If it's not working you might work the switch many times and the regular turn signals may start working and your done. This flasher is in the fuse panel near the steering collum633944512.jpg 133164453.jpg 633944512.jpg

Control ?i have a 1997 s10 pick signal flashers ( right and left ) stopped working, fuse replaced no go, all other electrical working ( brakes /emergency flashers etc) what do you suggest mission

The flasher may have gone bad for the turn signal, and there may be a second flasher for the emergency flasher lights. Look and listen for a click of the flasher for the emergency flasher lights. Then, the other flasher is the one to replace.

Good luck on this repair.

1997 Chevy Tahoe both turn signals stopped working

Sounds like the flasher unit to me. Normally the emergency flasher and turn signal are separate.

Turn signals and emergency flashers quit working.

check and replace the flasher unit if necessary, sometimes located in the fuse box area, sometimes under the dash near the steering column

No turn signals or emergency blinkers

Sounds like a multifunction switch, work the emergency flasher button up and down a few times, then attempt to work the turn signals if the signals work then you will need a multifunction switch.

Turn signals and emergency flashers won't work

you need to replace the flasher relay... it's often located in the fuse panel under the dash.... it's generally larger then the other relays.... and it may possibly be blue.

1997 sonoma turn signal flasher

it is inside, under dash, on left side is a plastic sound protector, mine had 3 screws holding it up, drop this down and straight in you will see a 1" round thing - this is the flasher, pull it out and replace with new one (there are two flat prongs that plug in). It appears this is a well guarded secret!
