Just bought this vehicle off auction, looks in good running condition except it came with an aftermarket alarm. Everything lights up when I turn it on but it wont crank. Not even a click. I saw some you tube vids about bypassing VATS with resisters but my key has no chip in it. Anyone have ne ideas?
It's not the VATS. VATs doesn't prevent cranking. It only prevents fuel. YOu need a wiring diagram to trace the entire ignition and park/neutral circuits

REMOVE THE INFO PANEL IN THE CENTER. THE RELAY IS BEHIND THE INFO PANNEL. YOU CAN HEAR THE RELAYS CLICKING. YOU CAN CUT THE WIRE OF THE RELAY TO STOP THE RELAY FROM ACTIVATING THE IGNITION CUT OFF.
IF NO OIL PRESSURE THE ENGINE WILL STOP, CHECK THE OIL PRESSURE. GO TO CORVETTTE FORUM .. NEED SLEEP !

if battery and conectors are very clean and tight,check for bad ground to engine from battery,,also fusable links off of starter or positive small post near fuses, important,,,is the alternator charging ? and have u tried a new battery? voltage should read 13.50 to 14.25 while running 12.5 to 12.65 when not running

Check the main cable going from the battery to starter rellay.
This could be loose or there is corrosion on the connectors, clean this with a spray like WD40...
To find this cable start from the starter motor and work your way back to rellay and then to battery...
If not.
Check with multimeter if the rellay is fine.
else the starter motor is jammed... it will have to be opened and serviced..

If possible try tapping on the starter with a hammer while someone is cranking it over. The electrical system test only tests for amperage draw and not dead spots. Do this after checking battery connections if connections do not correct the issue. If it cranks while tapping the starter then starter is having a issue.
