SOURCE: radio code stuck in safe mode

I had this same problem when I had to disconnect the radio. If you take it to your local VW dealership they will give you the codes for free. Keep them though for when you have to redo it again. Every car is different.

SOURCE: changing clutch 1998 Jetta GL, remove part or all of transmission?

I'm pretty sure the clutch *has* to be against the flywheel, otherwise if it was directly connected the input and lay shaft would constantly spin even if the wheels were disconnected, which isn't the point of the clutch. Probably the arm for the clutch is just further along the hydraulic line at the back, rather than having it up the front. Open it the way you usually would as I can't see it working any other way.

SOURCE: I have a 1996 VW Jetta, odomoter and speedometer

Either you have a broken wire some where from the speed sensor to the cluster or you have connector at fault, the one which hookup the dash cluster to the main wire bundel. Check the connector, maybe a pushed back pin !!

SOURCE: need to locate fuel pump on 96 jetta

1996 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L SFI 4cyl

On a Digifant fuel system, the fuel pump is mounted in a reservoir under the rear of the vehicle. The fuel filter is also in this area. The reservoir holds one liter of fuel and is supplied by a small transfer pump in the tank. The transfer pump can be replaced separately even though they are installed and removed as a unit.

The Motronic system uses two fuel pumps. The first is a small transfer pump to get the fuel out of the tank and the second boosts the fuel pressure to the necessary amount. The transfer pump is located inside the tank and the main pressure pump can be found under the vehicle. This transfer pump is located under the rear seat and is part of the fuel gauge sending unit. The main fuel pump can be found in the reservoir in front of the rear axle beam. There is a check valve inside this pump to maintain pressure in the lines, especially on hot days, to avoid vapor lock. The fuel filter is mounted to the side of the reservoir. This filter has no specified replacement interval and should be good for the entire service life of the vehicle. Whenever the ignition key is in the on position, the pump should run for at least two (2) seconds to pressurize the fuel lines. If the Engine Control Unit (ECM) does not see a signal from the Hall Effect sensor in the distributor it will shut the pump off. If a Hall Effect signal is present, the pump will continue to run as long as a signal is detected. It is this Hall Effect signal that signals the ECM that the engine is rotating therefore indicating that fuel is needed. The pump is operated via a relay that is controlled by the ECM. This relay is located in the vehicles fuse panel. The main contacts of the relay can be jumped to run the pump during testing.

EPC means Electronic Pedal Control. Fly-by-wire for your gas pedal--instead of a mechanical cable that pulls an accelerator linkage on the engine, there's an electronic device on the gas pedal, an electronic device on the throttle body and a wire between them.
You should check the sistem with diagnostic tool.

On the manual transmission you go through the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). Its suppose to go 1/2 way up the teeth marks. Does it not say in the Chiltons manual? I can check when I get home.

Poor acceleration 1996 ford windstar gl.

Hi

This sounds decidedly like a faulty or dirty MAF sensor, which is located right next to the air filter box.

Unplug the wiring plug to the MAF and if all or most of the power is restored then you either need to clean or renew the MAF sensor.
