Transmission started slipping right after initial start. at 35k miles I had transmission serviced and dealer loaded an eprom update. Truck worked for two weeks and started slipping again.
Dealer says truck is out of warranty but it is slipping worse than ever now that I have 40K on the truck. Only happens right after I put it in gear and only for about 45 seconds.

sounds like inspection cover to trans hitting flexplate

i would say you have a faulty speed sensor if the trans isn't seeing the correct speed overdrive will not work.check the codes it should lead you in the right direction.

You will need to get the transmission rebuilt. With the info that you have provided the direct clutches are welded together. Becareful about getting it rebuilt, most shops see Dodge transmissions and they see dollar signs. You should be able to get it rebuilt for around $800.00 to $1000.00 depending on amount of damaged hard parts. Thanks and good luck with your repair.

It could be the Vehicle Velocity Sensor (VVS) or it could be the Transmission control module (TCM). Check all the wire harness, V.V.S and T.C.M. The best thing to do is to check the truck for any DTC code. Auto Zone scan free of charge and hope we can find out why the transmission is not working properly. Keep me posted, be glad to help.
SOURCE: Check engine light is on transmission is slipping
Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.
