My wife's spotage was damaged in an accident several months ago having been struck in the passenger front wheel.
Today I noticed the 4 wheel drive is not working..of course not, we have 8 inches of snow.
Anyway, The indicator shows it as being engaged but the front wheel s do not turn. The same is true for 4 high and 4 low.
For this model is there a fuse for the 4 wheel drive power? If so where would it be located. I checked the manual and saw no mention of one. If not, does this model have vacum lines and if so where would they be located.
I'm poor and have limited car skills so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Fuses relays in engine compartment or in dash board . look at transfer case look for vacuum lines or electric lines.its probably electric. because most 4 wheel drive uses electric motors.99 up to 2009s model.
its could be shift module in dash.
The Vacuum lines that run to each front wheel hub on the 2001 Kia Sportage, are notorious for drying out and breaking off or just leaking. Definitely the first thing to check! It's a simple DIY fix if you have any mechanical skills. Should cost about $10.00 for the hose. Use a comparable fuel hose for a longer lasting fix.

Around $10.00 for new cut to fit hose, I highly recommend using a comparable fuel line grade replacement as your fix will last much longer.
