Engine temperature switch tells the fans when the engine reaches a temperature in which the fans should operate. Change this and you will more than likely solve the problem.

I've searched for the switch but was unable to locate it.. I called a parts house and they told me they couldnt find the part for this car in their computer.

SOURCE: cooling fan dosent come on when temperture

You seem to have a bad cooling fan switch...it's connected to the side if the engine and when it gets too hot it turns on your cooling fans. The switch doesn't cost that much, $10 to $15 and takes all of about 15 minutes to replace.

Sorry - which ones? A/C heating or engine cooling fans?

Check fuses to make sure they're still ok. Remove the ones for the fans - and replace to clear any corrosion off them.

If it's the cooling fans at the front, these are controlled by a temperature switch which may be faulty.
Locate it , and measure the conductivity between contacts when cold - and when engine is very hot. The switch should close at around 90 degrees - 3/4 of the temperature gauge.

If the switch is ok, the relays controlling the fans are probably corroded.
Sometimes mounted on the fan housing - follow the fan motor wiring directly to them.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: car wont start...sometimes

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid, usually cheapest and easiest to replace the starter and solenoid as a unit. It is always best to check for power between the solenoid and the starter with a test light, if the solenoid clicks but the test light doesn't light up you have found the problem in the solenoid.

SOURCE: 2004 GTP Grand Prix overheating in slow traffic

Are the cooling fans coming on during normal operation? If your ac works turn it on and see if it overheats with ac on.If it does not overheat the fans are not operating properly under normal operating conditions. The ac will force the fans on. What you can do to start is just let the car idle in park and see if fans will come on normally. The coolant temp should reach 200-210 before the fans will come on. Make sure the air is off at this time. If we can verify the fans are working or not working properly we can go to the next step. Let me know what you find out.

The fan are controlled by the engine computer based on input from the coolant temperature sensor. unplug the Coolant temperature sensor and see,if the other fan comes on.There are three wires from the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor or CTS for short (Coolant Temperature Sensor). One wire gives the temperature signal to your dash temp gauge, one gives a temperature signal to the PCM, and the other provides a low reference signal to the PCM and provides the signal to turn on the fans.If the CTS wire is short then it will not signal both or any one fan to come ON.---------- To check Coolant Temperature sensor wiring.Click this link below:-- http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii259/SyntheticShield/Grand%20Prix%20Diagrams/Electrical%20Diagrams/Coolant_Temp_Sensor_Connector.gif ----------- Also you check the fan connections and wiring too, this will help to locate the exact short in wiring:--- To get the exact wiring. Please click on the link below:---- http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii259/SyntheticShield/Grand%20Prix%20Diagrams/Electrical%20Diagrams/Cooling_System_Schematic.gif

Are the fans in front of radiator supposed to be blowing when car 2004 Pontiac grand am v6 is on

Fans will not come on until computer commands them on when the engine reaches a predetermined temperature. The fans should come on and off if the AC is activated and the system is working properly

Pontiac grand am 2003 2.L engine 4 cylinder. When key is just on poison position. What lights are suppose to stay on...at what temperature are my radiator fans turn on them selfs

As per the lights that come on when you have your key turned to the ON position but the car is NOT running, the only ones that disappear after about ten seconds are the ones that show your airbag, your security light, your change oil light, and the temp for your cooling system.

As per the relay switch for the radiator fans, this is controlled by a sensor that is mounted to the radiator close to the bottom on the back side. These sensors can go faulty and can compromise the temp variance which, by normal standards, should be between 185*-200*F. I use these numbers because the thermostat that is in-lined is supposed to open up around 180-190*F. The temperature may variate 5-10* depending on which brand name sensor is installed onto the radiator.

Hope this helps.

Coolling fan will not come on 2004 pontiac gt is where a fuse for it and could you tell me where it would be

Turn on the ac all fan should come on. Fans only come on when the temperature gets passed half way on the temperature gauge. Unless your car is overheating don't mess with it.
