I have an 2000 s type jaguar. Car ran fine. But there was an hairline crack in radiator. I replaced the radiator. Now the car overheats. Why would this happen?

2000 s-type 4.0 No overheating issue prior to replacing radiator. Found very tiny pin hole in lower radiator hose, but never overheated prior to replacing radiator.

Check the cooling fan, maybe is not turning on

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2013

Cooling fan is still working fine. I did use an universal coolant. Would that matter?

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2013

I don't think so, did you do everything right? Could be a bad radiator? Check the thermostat.

If it's a tilt front end. You just pull the front clip off. All you have to do is disconect the wireing at the conecter. Lower the hood back down, and remove the hinge bolts. Then find a friend to help lift it off.

The radiator was replaced and the thermostat was replaced and the car is still overheating, what could be the problem?

I would flush the coolant system. Sounds like it is stuffed up. Be aware, if it has stop leak in it due to previous work, it will come out and any previous cracks in the engine will come undone. Check your oil after your done for water.

Kia spectra 2000, what causes over heating?

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Few things why the car overheats, here are the following:

- Weak radiator blower motor
- Clogged radiator
- Cracked head or head gasket
- Faulty water pump (coolant will not circulate if it's faulty)
- Worn out radiator hoses
- Coolant reservoir overfill (coolant overflows)

You will need to have them replaced to resolve the problem. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Radiator replaced on 2000 Volkswagen 2.0 engine not running hot but it still leaking antifreeze out of plastic jug not alot. Then did not replace thermostat.

The plastic jug (Coolant Recovery Reservoir) could have a hairline crack in it or check the small hose that goes from the Radiator neck (Opening) to the Reservior.

The Thermostat would not be an issue in this case.

2000 sebring. Overheats with air conditioning on.

I just had my coolant flushed and my radiator cooling fan replaced. The car was slightly overheating and would "gargle" in the coolant bowl after I turned the engine off. It turned out to be the radiator was clogged up on one side.

I went full tilt and replaced the radiator, water pump, thermostat, radiator cap and timing belt. I have 85,000 miles on the car and it was about time to do these things anyway. It is running like a new car now.
